I posted this in another category, but i think this is the more appropriate forum.....

We are bringing our 4 month old with us for the 1st time this trip. How do we handle him at the sit down restaurants? he is too little to sit up in a high chair. We are not bringing his car carrier. All we will have is is his stroller, and my understanding is you can not bring it in the sit down restaurants.

Do we have to hold him durring our meal? Does disney have some sort of device for him to lay in?

Here is my thought...I do not believe that Disney has something for you to lay him in....But does your stroller have your connection to the car seat. Maybe if you do not plan on him being in the car seat portion of the stroller on unless you have a sit down ressie?

Just my thought if you aren't bringing the car seat at all I think you'll be stuck with the holding him option

P.s. I like your name!

Our daughter was 2mth the last time we went to disney in 2007. We brought our carrier but most of the time she was in our Bjorn Carrier.

My DD is 4.5 now so this was a while ago, but we took her when she was 4 months old. We were able to bring our stroller into every restaurant we ate at. It was a pretty compact stroller though, so it didn't take up a ton of room.

ETA: The official no strollers in the restaurant policy was around back then too.

When we went with our infant the TS restaurants were very accomodating and made room for the stroller...even tight places like Le Cellier and Boma. Just talk to the hostess when you check in. At a couple of places strollers are not allowed (ie. Crystal Palace) but they do provide a sling style baby seat for babies that can't sit up yet. Loved it!

most ts restaurants will accommodate you whenever possible, especially if you are dining at off peak hours when they are slightly less crowded. another possible idea - depending on how strong your baby is - you could pad the high chair with coats, blankets, something along those lines to help support your little one so he/she could sit independently. we did that w/ dd when she was not yet sitting up and it worked fairly well. (not my ideal but we do what we need to sometimes.)

good luck!

Despite the official rule, we saw several strollers in restaurants last week. I wouldn't count on it happening, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to ask when you check in.

It will probably help if you dine at less busy restaurants - seems like the places I saw the most strollers were at the resort restaurants. None at Le Cellier that I can recall - tables are pretty close together there. Definitely saw two at the Grand Floridian Cafe and also saw a few at Whispering Canyon.

Also saw lots of little ones being passed between Mom and Dad so I suspect that sometimes the answer to the question of bringing your stroller in is no.

We were able to take our jogging stroller into Mama Melrose's during our last trip. DD2 was napping and the staff was very accomodating.

When we took DS to Disney in 07 he was 14 months old and when he fell asleep in the stoller, the restaurants let us bring him in. I remember The Concourse Steakhouse in particular...they just sat us against the half-wall and I tucked his stroller right behind me so it wasn't in the way of anyone else.

Our youngest DD was 3 months old on our 2006 WDW trip. Some restaurants allowed us to bring in her stroller while others had Infant-style Highchairs available to use.

Stroller (Peg Perego P3) allowed in:
Le Cellier
Marrakesh
Hoop Dee Doo
Ohana

Infant-style Highchair offered:
Chef Mickey's
Garden Grill

I used a Pouch Sling/held her:
San Angel

What about something like a ring sling or another style of carrier?

I love my ring sling purchased from zolowear as well as my babyhawk carrier and a moby wrap.

My daughter is just 4 days shy of 3 months and I wear her in both. I think having one or the other is a great addition to having a stroller.

GREAT thread! I'll have a 4 month old with me when we go in January of next year. I've been pondering the "details" of this and this was one I hadn't considered!

That said, I do recall a couple of occasions over the past 4 trips that we have taken our first child on where the restaurants have kindly allowed us to keep her in her stroller whilst sleeping. (Though she was old enough to sit in a high chair) We just tucked her under the table the best we could!

On three trips with DS, we have NEVER been told we cannot bring a stroller in to any restaurant. We brought it in to nearly every restaurant when he was 6 months old, and on later trips, he was old enough to be in the regular highchairs, but we still used the stroller if he was sleeping or fell asleep during the meal. We used a Mac Quest, which is a more compact stroller, so it didn't take up much more room than a high chair, once it was kinda pushed under the table. We never had a problem. Here is a pic of what highchairs CP had for the little ones...make sure you bring a blanket to lay over it tho, it was not the cleanest thing ever....

We used a carrier (bjorn or sling style). We also brought a stroller in on occasion, but sometimes it was not very convenient (Biergarten comes to mind)...just not a lot of room in those restaurants to begin with, then trying to fit the stroller in too was not cool for us nor the guests near us.

I really liked the sling, it was realtively comfy for me and seemed pretty darn comfy for her. Dad preferred the bjorn (he thinks slings are too feminine for a guy to wear--his loss!)
