Just Epcot and TTC? Sorry to say we've never been on it before- but will definitely check it out next trip- maybe on our arrival day.

It must be cool to ride thru a bit of Epcot.

Thanks

That's exactly where it goes....runs from the TTC, goes to Epcot, around Spaceship Earth area, over the 'lake', then back to the monorail platform in front of Epcot. If you are planning on just 'riding' it, rather than going into Epcot, you may be asked to get off, and then board again. That doesn't always happen, but it has on occasion.

It was planned at one time to modify the EPCOT line to go to MGM Studios too. But it is too expensive to add on to the monorai line. If you look at the Swan and Dolphin hotels, there is a rectangular section of black windows. Those were going to be open atriums that the monorail would pass through.

Well, no, really they weren't.
Check allearsnet.com's Anita Answer archives. She provided information about this exact issue around the middle of July (2006, in case this thread is read by anyone in coming years :))
Pretty much it came down to two things: first, the black-glass areas on both hotels are much higher (at about 65 feet) than the current monorail system; and, that same black-glass feature is something the person who designed both properties puts into many of his designs.

I know I've seen photoshopped pictures others have done showing a monorail car going through the black areas on the Swan and Dolphin, but I have always been under the impression that anything involving the monorail in real life was pure urban legend.

Originally the Monorail was suppose to go from Epcot to what is now Downtown Disney (back in 1982 it was called the Disney Village), During the 1990’s plans were drawn up for the Monorail to be expanded to include the Disney/Mgm Studios, but it was shut down by Ei$ner as he was buying the Family Channel at the time. (Now called ABC Family Channel).
