Hi
We will be staying at SSR for 6 nights in June. DH, DD, (19) and friend. Where would you suggest staying that would be relatively quiet. We don't mind walking and was thinking the section close to DD. We also will have a car.

Thanks

We usually stay in Congress Park. Easy walk to DTD:thumbsup2

Congress Park - closest to DTD and LOVE the quiet pool. You have a beautiful view of DTD.

Springs - right across from main pool, AP and TC. Still a close walk to DTD. Rooms on the side of the resort are awesome. They back up to a neat pond (this was our master bedroom/balcony view).

Grandstand - neat outdoor decor and I like the pool there, too. Getting a little further away from DTD and may be too far to walk for little kids. Many people prefer this section and think it's the best spot at SSR. We've never stayed in this section, but will probably try it next time.

I, too, prefer Congress Park and it's a good section because it's just a five to ten minute walk to the Marketplace section of Downtown Disney. The pool area there isn't as busy (or noisy) as the Springs pool area or the one at the Grandstands.
I think that the buildings (rooms 9101-9436, 9501-9836) that are a bit away from the Grandstands pool would be good, too. This section has quick access to the Westside of DTD. The Paddocks section runs along the outside of the resort (but buffered from the road outside of the resort) between Congress Park and the resort entry security booth. There's a small pool area in that section but there are a couple of buildings that are closer to CP's pool.
I think that, based on what you indicated in your post, any of these areas would work well for you.

Another vote here for Congress park. Very quiet and a nice little stroll to DTD.

agree with Buckeye - with Congress park you can walk to DTD.

but springs and grandstand are near the boat - so you can boat over.

springs and grandstand are near the food court, front desk, main pool, community hall, gym, and spa.

Thanks for all your replies. Looks like Congress Park is for us. Hopefully we will be able to get a room there. 25 days !!!

We're doing the springs for next Feb. We heard it was "close" to everything, so we're going to give it a shot.

We just got back from a week at SSR. We stayed in the Grandstand section and loved it! It is the first bus stop to be picked up and to be dropped off. That is a huge plus, especially when it's so busy. Great pool also.

We stayed at the Springs, and I loved it. My post above shows the room from our balcony and the Springs buildings are right across the street from the main pool, AP and Turf Club. If you're looking for a nice dinner some evening and just want to stay close to home, make reservations at the Turf Club. We really enjoyed the food there.

Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with the Congress Park, the Springs or Grandstand. I would be happy in any of those!

Hope everyone has a GREAT stay! :goodvibes

This may help a little.

The orange sign by the round SSR tower is the walkway to the main pool. The buildings sit right in front of it. AP, Turf Club and the boat docks are all by the main pool. If I recall, I took this picture at the bus stop for the Springs. If not, I'm pretty darn close to it.

If you walk straight ahead in the picture to the building with the orange roof, that's the DVC preview center. Our building (in the Springs) was directly across the street.

If you keep walking past the orange building, you cross a street and Congress Park will be on your right. If you keep walking straight ahead and hang a right, you're at DTD.

Grandstand would actually be behind me to the right.

On our first DVC stay in April we were in the Paddock section. I thought we would hate it only because of our two little ones. However we were very near to the quiet pool and twi bus stops and a walk across the footbridge - which was not as long as it appeared took us to the CH and AP. Of course we didn't need to use those much as we cooked in the room and ordered from gardengrocer.com and we actually preferred our quiet pool to the larger one!!

When we went a couple years ago (during the 2006 flower show), we stayed in Congress Park. We found it very quiet and our room had a great view of Downtown Disney.:hippie: It was a little bit of a walk to get to the main pool & the Artists's Palette, but exercise is a good thing, right!
