where do you store photos from ipad/iphone?

In the past I have downloaded all my photos to photo cd's. So, that's how I have all my photos saved now. I have a bunch of photos on my iphone and ipad, and am not tech savy. What is the new way to store photos? I am thinking about getting a mac book air. I'd like some way to store them, and be able to look at them whenever. I realize the mac book air wouldn't have a cd slot anyway, so that wouldn't work for my current saved photos.

I like to use www.dropbox.com for storing everything. You get free space to store pictures or any other type of documents. You can even share files with others. It is awesome. I am a teacher and we use it share our lesson plans and yearbook pics with one another. They have an iPhone app that I use frequently.
