where do you put phone number for kids?

I probably won't get Mother of the Year with my suggestion, but here it is. My youngest son is severely mentally handicapped. He walks but does not talk. He has no fear of danger and will break & run if he gets the chance. Naturally, we watch him like hawks. However, just to be safe we wrote his name and our cell phone numbers on the inside of his forearms. That's right, we wrote on our child in indelible ink. He won't wear bracelets or backpacks. Nothing to do but write directly on him.

We bought tattos that we put on our childrens hands with our cell phone number. They can be bought on the web. I'm not sure of the web site off hand but I think if you were to do a search for lost children tattos you may find them. we used them on our last trip which was in Aug. and they held up great in the heat and we did get a lot of good comments from other parents we met and questioned us on them.
I think they come 50 in a package and with removal wipes as well.

Hiya all -

thanks for the many suggestions, we might look at the wristbands or a tag in the pocket - the writing on the skin thing is not for me, but can see how it could be good in some situations.

We went the Sharpie route too...only we used it on the inside of their shoes! Both kids wear Crocs to the parks, so each morning I took a Sharpie and wrote our cell phone number on the inside of one of their Crocs. If it had faded by the next day I just went over it again. They both knew to ask a CM to call their mom and dad at this number if they got separated.
