Hi everyone,

I haven't posted to much but I read on here :surfweb: everyday and LOVE it. You all are a wealth of knowledge and I appreciate you shareing with us.

Saying that my question to you out there is...I am a Canon user and have several film SLR cameras and several point and shoot digital cameras. I have decided to purchase my first digital SLR, Canon of course (since I have lens and flash) and I may get a new point and shoot, as mine are quite worn out after 5+ years of use by the whole family. So where do you purchase your equipment? I have used Ritz in the past but here in VA they don't sell Canon any longer. There is a small camera shop that is in Williamsburg and I go up there for smaller items or hard to find lens because he has some things there on consignment, too.

I was just curious where you find the best prices, service and selection. Also, do you ever get any type of replacement or extra warrenty on your equipment that you purchase? :confused3

I haven't deciede on the exact model that I will purchase but am looking at the 7D and maybe the G10 or G11. :)

Thanks for your help. :thumbsup2

I use bing.com to check out prices and check with Amazon, Adorama, B&H for current pricing. If buying used gear, I will also check out keh.com

I bought my 50D at allen's camera.It was cheaper there than b&h.

It's near philly.I had them shipped the 50D to my house to save the sales tax,but I drove there too to by a umda card reader and a ballhead. You won't believe how much stuff they have there.Hope this helps.

I commiserate with you about Ritz losing the capability to sell Canon gear.

I have another local camera shop I use as well as Amazon, B & H online and Adorama online.

there are camera stores closer to you - Camera City in Hampton and some in Va. Beach, etc. but as much I like to buy local be sure to check online at reputable sites like B&H www.bhphotovideo.com Adorama, Amazon, etc.

I would suggest you just go and sell your film cameras ASAP and get as much as you can for them. The longer you wait the less you will get. I should have sold my film camera's much earlier than I did....

We have a couple of local stores remaining. One has a thriving business buying and selling used equipment. You could likely sell your gear on EBAY or Craigslist and get more money. But if you have a local store you could work out a deal to trade in the film cameras for a DSLR. Just depends how much time you want to spend selling.

Our local shop has decent prices but sometimes does not have what I need in stock so I buy from Amazon or B&H. I just bought some gear from Amazon. The lens was from Amazon and got to me in two days. The filter was shipped on the same day from Adorama and finally got here 8 days later. From NJ. I think they put the package on a two legged mule....

Later,
Dan
