Where do you pick up AP passes?

We decided to make two trips to Universal this year and it seems that it will be cheaper to buy the ap passes. I have already booked an ap rate at the Portifino for this summer and I am looking at the different ap passes on the website. Seems the biggest differences are the blockout rates. Once I purchase these will they be mailed or will I have to pick them up at guest services at the hotel?

Another major difference is the different levels give other discounts. Depending on how many people are in your group, the extra meal and merchandise discounts from one person having a preferred or higher pass can add up.

Just a heads up, if you choose to do the payment option for your AP's, these cannot be picked up at the hotel. These have to be picked up at the parks. We found that out at Christmas with my DD AP (I had upgraded at the resort for mine over the summer so I was able to get at the hotel, but when we went to get my DD's which we chose payment plan for we were told we had to go to parks. There was another family standing there with us too and they were told the same thing by another TM)

Am I better off buying them beforehand or at the hotel. I figure we will pool it till room ready.
