Obviously a bank but which one.

We need to open up a money market account or something to keep that recommend 3 months emergency money in.

All we have is a checking account. We used to have a regular savings account but we closed it when we moved.

Our checking is with B of A. I don't love them but we have so much auto stuff set up it is a huge inconvience to change.

Does anyone have an ING money market account or one through USAA?

I have my savings at BoA. It doesn't earn as much interest but it just makes it easy for me. I've also enrolled in their "Keep the Change" plan which rolls money into my savings account daily. Plus there is some kind of "match" from BoA at the end of the year.

I keep it in my ING account. The high interest rates are great and I've always had wonderful service from them.

Keep in mind that it does take 2-3 days to transfer money back into our checking account. DH and I are both fine with that and have more than enough credit to temporarily cover an emergency, but it's something to think about.

We have a savings account with Citibank, we also have our checking account with them.

Also we have money direct deposited into a credit union savings account and have our mortgage paid directly from that. DH has extra money deposited in there depending on how much OT he work. . He was working so much OT for awhile that we were able to put an extra thousand dollars in a month. It's nice because we forget the money is even there and it builds up pretty quick.

I use HSBC for all my accounts - checking, savings, and online savings (like ING)

I have $2500.00 dollars in an account...don't know what bank or anything.

My parents gave me $2500.00 a year or two ago. I told them that was very generous of them, that I didn't really need it.

They took it & opened up an account. Ocassionally they remind me that it's there if DH & I need it. We haven't touched it yet. It's just sitting for an emergency I hope we never have.

We have a savings acct with a Credit Union. We have money deposited every month. We have no ATM card associated with this acct. There is no way for us to walk inside to withdraw because it is in the United States. Until recently, we could not even call and have a wire transfer. The money was untouchable. THat's how you save....don't be tempted to touch it.

I don't have enough to have done this yet, but once our emergency fund has a higher balance, I'll open a money market account. The interest is much better, and I can write checks and make withdrawls out of it (maximum of 6 per month). The interest still isn't fantastic, it would do better being invested, but that's not it's purpose. It's supposed to be easily accessable in an emergency, investments usually aren't. So, you pay for the easy access by not getting such a good return on the money. It's a trade off, but a nessesary one.

A high yield savings account. I use HSBC Direct (hsbc.com). You bank online and have an atm for withdrawals. They are currently paying a 4.8%apr.

I have two months in a savings account at my CU, and then have 4 6 month CDs that mature a month apart.

I also have another savings account, and one in each of my children's names. I wouldn't touch them unless it was a REAL emergency, however.

I also have other investments that aren't as liquid.

I use ING Direct for all our savings. They have great service and very competitive interest rates. :)

I just opened that keep the change plan. Not only does it roll over all my change the special promotion on line has them matching penny per penny for 3 months. I am not a huge fan of BoA but I love that account!

I work for a division of Frost Bank - that is something we can do. If you would like a referral to an individual let me know. FYI - we have GREAT internet banking!!
