Where do you eat most of your meals?

Hi,
We are staying at POR in Aug and have heard some mixed reviews on the food court (seems more negative than positive). We haven't eaten that often at whichever resort we've stayed,so that isn't playing a role in our decision. Just curious...do people eat often at their resorts and does it play a important role in which resort you stay at?

Well, we always have stayed in moderates until this coming June, and the only time we eat in the resort is the first night we get there (we eat in the food court). POR's food court was pretty good, imo. As long as you aren't expecting fine dining, there's nothing wrong with it. Personally I love their chicken parmigiana sandwich (coated chicken covered with marinara sauce and mozarella cheese I believe on a long sub type bun; comes with a bag of chips). Yum.

We actually just returned from our first stay at POR a week ago. Let me say that we absolutely loved this resort! Also, we found the food court to be very good and ended up eating quite a few meals there. We had mostly breakfast items, burgers, nachos, salads and some bakery items and were always happy with what we had. Even though it was a crowded time and the resort was near capacity the food court was never crowded (maybe we just lucked out). Also it was much quieter than the food courts at Pop and Movies and much cleaner. We probably ate there more because of park crowds so we spent more time at the pool and just enjoying the resort. Definitely the overall atmosphere of this resort which includes the food court makes me want to stay there again. On the flip side I disliked the dorm like atmosphere of Pop's food court (and the fact that even in late January it was always packed) so much that when we stay there for four nights (unless I decide to spring for POR again) we probably won't eat at the food court much, especially after being at POR. One reason we eat at the food courts is that they take the DDE card and then with our soda mugs getting a quick burger is cheaper than in the parks.

We almost stayed at POFQ (but due to AP room rate discounts we upgraded to WL). Anyway, it was a tough choice between POR and POFQ since we really like the food court at POR. There is a very big selection and breakfast was our favorite meal there. If you go to www.wdwig.com and click on dining, the menus, you'll be able to pull up the menu at POR.

Actually, one of the things we missed most last year (stayed at BWI) was the food court at POR. The deluxe resorts don't have food courts. :sad2:

when we stayed at GF we only ate 2 meals at the resort, and they were both character meals. we usually had breakfast in our room -- kept milk in the fridge and just had cereal or something. lunch was grabbing something in the park and dinner was a PS somewhere. my DD's did eat many nachos from GF though! we also stayed at POP, and i will agree with the previous poster who didn't like the "dorm like" atmosphere. we ended up needing the food court because there was no refrigerator. it was sooooo crowded and loud!! we didn't enjoy it AT ALL! and what really suprised me was how much our oldest DD (7 at the time) didn't like the food court! she barely ate because she didn't like the noise.

The only resort that even made me think twice about the benefits was BWI. There are so many great dining choices in such a small area. I can reccomend everything from Flying Fish right down to Boardwalk to Go, that tiny self contained hot dog cart. I also liked the psuedo food courts at AKL and WL.
Like you though we usually have so many PS(or are we supposed to be calling them AR's ;) )schudeled elswhere that it isn't make or break for us.

We use to eat breakfast in the food court at POR a lot when we use to go with our extended family our first 10 years going. However your question really made me look at what we do. In the last four years though, since it is usually just my immediate family the three of us and sometimes my mom, we have a ritual for each park. If we are going to MK we get items from the bakery. If we go to Epcot, I go get fastpasses for Mission Space and DH and DS go to the Fountain View. We have places we get breakfast at MGM and AKL too. We usually grab counter service at the Parks for Lunch and Have priority seating for Dinner.

We have been know to grab snacks at the food court. We also enjoy eating breakfast at Boatwrights at POR. We will be doing that this trip.

Have a wonderful Time

Diane

I must be an oddball. I LOVED POR's foodcourt, of course my first few years of working ment heading to the local cramped mall food court. POR's is 10,000% better than any mall. :)

Whenever possible, I prefer to be self-sufficient. Add this to the fact that I *hate* paying $6 for a burger that's the equivalent of salted rubber with a bunand you'll see why I love having a kitchen when we go on vacation.

- Breakfast is an in-the-room thing. Nothing more than OJ, milk, some cereal or pastries are needed to get this family going.
- Lunch may be an eat out thing if we're too busy, but chances are we also eat this back at the room if we have rolls and deli stuffs.
- Dinner, however, is ALWAYS an eat-out when on vacation. :D

We eat breakfast in our room and lunch where ever we are (just a snack at lunch time.) For dinner we like to eat a sit down meal and we usually eat at one of the restaurants at a deluxe resort or in the world showcase. We stay at the BCV so there are plenty of dinner choices near for us which is one reason we like to stay there.

We were there last week, and I thought the quality was good, just not a lot of choices. We ate one lunch there (day of arrival) and a few dinners. We always breakfast in the room, and usually lunch at the parks. Dinner can be just about anywhere, depending on our mood.

I thought POR's food court was good. We mainly ate there for a quick breakfast before heading to the parks, but I certainly didn't see anything wrong with it.

Just a tip in case you're having a slow morning (no parks) at POR one day. My friend and I got our breakfast and then took the boat ride to DTD and back as we ate. That was such a nice breakfast! Very relaxing! :sunny:
