We are renting DVC points at BCV. Where do you check in for that? Is it at the regular beach club lobby? Is there a separate place for DVC checking in?

Confused......:confused3

Not that this will help you, but is it worth it to rent points & how do you do it? This answer might be posted somewhere, but a just saw your post & thought I would ask. Thanks for any info!

Well it goes like this:

DVC owners have their point allotment to use each year. Each DVC resort room requires a certain number of points each night. You can find the point charts here http://www.dvc-resales.com/DVC-point-charts.htm

Many owners who don't use their points will rent them out. So as an example our trip...

May 13th-18th. Each night requires 13 points. We found an owner to rent us his points for $10/point. Which comes out to be $130/night. That is for a studio at The Beach Club Villas. The same villa booked through Disney is $315per night...that's a savings of...$925!!!!!! That's huge!!! He also booked the dining plan for us..which doesn't have to be paid until check-in! Our passes are from undercovertourist.com and they are a good deal too via the mousesavers.com link!

Right here on the disboards is the rent/trade forum. You can look though it and find someone posting their points for rent. In my case..I posted what I was looking for...and owners contacted me! good luck..it's worth it!

We just returned from a wonderful trip to the BCV last week. You do check in at the same place as the rest of the guests for the BC. The BCV are in a seperate building but there is a covered walkway from the BC over to the villas.

Yes Wendy, It is in the Beach Club lobby. Walk in the front door, give Art Lark a salute and turn right.

Renting: the savings is only good Sunday-Thursday due to the point difference required for weekends. This is a private agreement between 2 individuals, no involvement by Disney.

The member will have complete and total control of your reservation. You will not be able to contact Member Services to verify the reservations or book the DDP or Magical Express. Make sure you get a member you feel comfortable with and has good communication. Most transactions go off without any problems. Some have had problems and the savings is due to the risk. You will not know for sure you have a reservation until you check in.

Since you are booking a DVC booking you will not get daily housekeeping or extra towels unless you pay extra. This does not bother most, some it bothers alot. If you get a one bedroom or 2 bedroom you can laundry your towels, if you get a studio you will have to take them to the laundry if you run out.

Some think renting is great, others are leary. You have to decide where you fall. If you decide to take the challenge be sure to the read the FAQ on the Rent/Trade board.

Yes,the deal with the towels is strange but I guess they want you to feel at home and not be bothered. We just grab towels from the pool.

You do check in at the Beach Club registration desk. The first thing they ask you is if you are a guest at the BC or BCV. You also use the lobby concierge in the BC lobby (if you need to).
