Do they sell it at the port? onboard? (if so is the $ inflated?)

How much will we need family 5 4 night cruise, so for CC and maybe Nassau.

Are you talking about Sea Safe the anti jelly fish sting sunscreen. If so you can probably buy it any where that has a good assortment of sunscreen. Of course I live in Florida and they sell sunscreen everywhere all year long.

Yes the jelly fish protection! I live in montreal (Quebec), we have sunscreen but I never seen anything for jelly fish in it...

Sorry for my ingnorance but are jelly fish stings a real concern in the Caribbean? We have been to the ocean many times and never had a problem.
I have never heard of safesea before.

I bought it at :www.buysafesea.com on their website they give the estimated amount of applications per bottle. I think the main concern is sea lice which are microscopic jellies. There was a very informative thread on DISboards - use the search engine. The biggest issue seems to be that it is next to impossible to accurately predict if there will be an overabundance of them in the water- so to be on the safe side I ordered my Safe Sea for a perfect day on Castaway Cay!:)

We have seen jellyfish snorkeling and diving in the caribbean. Haven't been stung. I am more worried about sharks. :confused3

I emailed the Safe Sea website asking them about how updated their prices are and they haven't responded. Until they answer me, I'm too nervous about giving them my credit card number, also the date at the very bottom of their website pages is 2006. I'm very comfortable with making online purchases, but I always scroll to the bottom of the page and check the date of the site. If it's not current, I contact them to ensure the company still exists. If they don't respond soon, there's a local dive shop here in my city that can order it in for me but the website is cheaper if I can do it that way.

I'll let you know if Safe Sea ever gets back to me.

I ordered mine on March 8th and it was delivered yesterday. They use paypal and I had no problems. I used www.buysafesea.com . I purchaes the sensitive skin/kids version and it was $12.99 a bottle. I purchased two bottles and some After Sting and the total Shipping & Handling was $2.99.

Well, that's good to know, maybe I will give it a try since you seemed to have no problems. I'd rather order it from them because it's so much cheaper. My local dive shop can order it and then sells it for $31 (for the 4oz bottle). I'd much rather spend $13 because even with the exchange rate and shipping costs, it's still cheaper through the website.

Ok, I'm going to give it a shot right now. Thanks for making me feel better! :)

You should have no problems...thats an outrageous mark-up!!!!! I think you'll have it within a week to 10 days.:)

Hi Madamx,
We are also in Ontario and I had questions about Sea safe too. I rarely order things online (I'm an ""old school" buy it in a store person :rotfl:) Since you have ordered it, please post what they charged you for shipping/handling to Ontario and if you had to pay duty/customs broker.
Thanks:thumbsup2

... I think the main concern is sea lice...

And it is almost Sea Lice season in the Caribbean. Exact peak times vary from island to island but here in Grand Cayman it is usually April to early June.

Sea Lice, or more properly Sea Bather's Eruption, is a skin reaction to the larvae of the thimble jellyfish. These are small brown jellyfish about the size of the tip of your thumb. They gather in masses which look a bit like an oil spill on the surface of the water. Their larvae are too small to be easily seen so you cannot be sure the water is clear just because you do not see the adult thimble jellyfish.

Sea Lice tends to have its greatest affect in the areas underneath clothing. They get under the swimsuit and sting any and all  parts underneath.

Sea Safe contains a substance similar to what clownfish (think Nemo) secrete which makes them immune to the stings of anemones. It works. You needs to apply it under the swimwear as well as to exposed skin.

Did your sea safe ever arrive? We ordered some online and never received it. No response to our emails either.:confused3

Might want to avoid buysafesea.com. I ordered 3 bottles of it, but never got to use them because it took them 2 weeks to even ship it out, so we didn't receive them until after out trip. I returned them but was never given a refund and all my emails and phone calls were ignored.
