And it is almost Sea Lice season in the Caribbean. Exact peak times vary from island to island but here in Grand Cayman it is usually April to early June.
Sea Lice, or more properly Sea Bather's Eruption, is a skin reaction to the larvae of the thimble jellyfish. These are small brown jellyfish about the size of the tip of your thumb. They gather in masses which look a bit like an oil spill on the surface of the water. Their larvae are too small to be easily seen so you cannot be sure the water is clear just because you do not see the adult thimble jellyfish.
Sea Lice tends to have its greatest affect in the areas underneath clothing. They get under the swimsuit and sting any and allparts underneath.
Sea Safe contains a substance similar to what clownfish (think Nemo) secrete which makes them immune to the stings of anemones. It works. You needs to apply it under the swimwear as well as to exposed skin.
We went on our cruise last week of sept/ 1st week october and the boys got sea lice at CC.
We did not buy sea safe before (wish I had), we did go to the medic on the Island. She was wonderful, she has the boy shower for 5 min, then I had to rince their bathing suite in hot water for 2 min. After she applied some lotion on them, gave me a few samples size to reapply later. It was all free to

They were fine after that.
next time I will bring seasafe just to be safe
