where do you book your disney cruise?

Extension cord. I can't remember if dcl allows an extension cord to be brought on (Royal doesn't and they are who we've booked most recently) but we always request one just in case dh needs one.

I believe that our rooms on Dream have all had useful outlets where he needs them, though. But we still request one.

That's good to know. Thanks.

Now, as a penalty for getting the thread off track, I'll add that we booked our cruise directly with DCL. Afterwards, I read in several places that there were perks for going through various travel agents. Poking around on these forums, I'm wondering if this is still the case.

I like dealing with Disney directly, but I'm curious if there are any advantages to booking packages through a travel agent?

DCL for first 5 cruises then learned of Dreams credit. We got a 20% off Disney Cruise due to miss at Castaway Cay, power was lost so Disney's fault.
Dream's Unlimited was able to use the 20% and keep the 10% onboard booking alive for us. On board Disney said that the 20% would replace the 10% reservation.

Looking forward to our gift basket in the mail before the cruise.

I am in the process of booking the 2017 Eastbound transatlantic cruise. Costco travel is a bit more expensive even with the cash card. Other travel agencies (mentioned earlier in thread) are about the same as DCL site but they add the on board credit.

What I haven't figured out yet is can you still use the interactive planning tools on the DCL site if you go through a travel agent?

Yes. The only things that must "go through" the TA would be anything monetarily connected: room changes, payments, dinner seating (on the reservation).

I have a TA that books/manages my cruises but I always make a placeholder cruise when I'm on a cruise and of course I list my TA.

Not always true about monetary things having to go through the TA. If you use the Disney Vacation Account to pay for your cruise, you are supposed to call DCL directly, and not give your DVA account information to anyone else, including your TA.

We have used Small World in the past and were very happy but now use Once Upon a Dream Vacations for all our trips because a portion of the TA fees go into the Neverland Fund to help send local foster families to Disney! I now use them even though I don't really need to so I can help contribute to the fund. It's an awesome program!

Costco. I like to do all my own research, so I don't 'need' a TA to look things up for me.

We always use a TA. I like that I can drop off our requirements and not have to spend the time to do the booking, spend time on the phone, etc. If there's any issues when travelling, I have one person to call. Since we never change our room and I can book everything else myself, I see no reason not to use a TA whether we get any additional perks or OBC or not. We've used the same TA for a number of years and they are well versed in Disney.
