Being here on the DIS, I feel the answer most are hoping to see is that we'll float with a beautiful angel right into the arms of Jesus and sweet little lambs will be nestled all around. But....I don't feel man is really much different than a plant when he dies. We all decay away and that's it. My FIL is a minister and holds a PhD. in ancient bible history. Believe me, DH and I have been kept up till the wee hours hearing the christian side to all this. For us, science wins out every time. And yes, we've been warned repeatedly how we're to burn in hell for all eternity.

I believe a soul rests until the Day of Judgement. Then, I believe we are all judged by our actions as recorded in The Book Of Life. I believe Heaven will be on Earth. I do not believe in an eternal Hell. I believe we will be made to burn up in the Lake Of Fire if we do not make it to Heaven. I don't believe in burning in Hell forever. I believe our punishment will be that we do not get to spend eternity with God.

I've got all kinds of theories. Everything from a Heaven-like place to nothing but worm food.

I tend to believe in the reincarnation theory most though. There are just way too many people out there who feel intensely connected to other time periods (me included) and that gives me reason to believe all of us were probably around at least once before.

I try not to think about it, but when forced to, I find the reincarnation theory the most comforting. I like this Earth, and really don't like the idea of leaving it.

If there is a heaven, I believe in Universal salvation (hence, once of the reasons I'm a Unitarian Universalist). However, what I tell my children is that I'm not sure what heaven is like, or if there is a physical heaven. I also tell them that the one thing I'm sure of is that we give of positive and negative energy in our life. After we die, when people think of us and smile, the positive energy we gave is being remembered and that is a kind of heaven. This also applies to positively effecting someone's life and they in turn are able to help others.

I'm not sure if I explained that very well. We also emphasize that they should make up their own minds about god and heaven.
