Where do we send proof of time?

Hi everyone,
Ok so I made it through my first half marathon alive but now I need to know where to email the results so they can place me in the appropriate coral at the disney full. I know it says that we can bring it to some booth at the expo but I'm wondering if there is anyway to send it in to be taken care of before then. I searched the website high and low but couldn't find any contact info.
Thanks,
Kristin

There is a "contact us" on the website for wide world of sports---but for some reason it isn't working right now.

That will be where you can inquire of how to submit your proof of time for the full.

What was your half time, if you don't mind me asking?

Unless it bumps you into the categories where proof is required--there is no need to submit it...except to guard against being bumped to a corral behind where you should be due to the number of entrants.

Here is what the website says:

PROOF OF TIME
If you believe you will finish the Marathon sub 5:00 hours, proof of time is required.

Acceptable forms of proof of time are either a photocopy of finisher's certificate or a print out of race results. All forms of proof of time must be from a marathon, half marathon or any race 10 miles or longer, after July 1, 2005. If you do not provide of time you will be placed in the last start corral.

Corral placement is based on proof of time. If you are registered for the Marathon and did not provide proof of time, you will need to bring that proof of your estimated finish time to the Runner Relations booths after you pick up your race number and ChampionChip at the Health and Fitness Expo on Thursday, January 10, Friday, January 11, or Saturday, January 12, 2008. If no proof of time is provided, you will be placed in the last start corral.

It truly is no trouble to submit it at the Expo. By now they are putting together the race packets and preparing for mailouts....I'm afraid that it is quite likely you won't be able to get it to them in time anyway to have it ready when they send out your packet.

Hmm...interesting info. I just ran the half last Sunday and I haven't been able to get the contact info off the site since then which is why I was hoping someone on here might just have the info saved. My time was 2:18:20 in the half so I am hoping to finish the full in less than 5 hours. I guess if it comes down to it I'll just take care of things at the expo but since I'm traveling pretty much across the world, the less I have to worry about once I get there, the better for me. Thanks for your response!

Wow--awesome finish!

I can appreciate that.

I think I e-mailed in my POT for Disneyland (had forgotten to include it) and the contact us page worked and I *think* that is how I did it.

Once it is back up, you should be able to e-mail them. And if your results are on-line...it should be easy. I didn't have to formally send in anything..they just need the race, the date, and the time...since many races publish results electronically, Disney can easily verify.

I think on race weekend though--you might want something published...either the finish certificate...or the race results from the paper...or a printout from the website. Just in case they will require something tangible so close to the race.

OK, this is all new to me.

I was just looking at the Peachtree 10K website and it appears I can send them a printout of the RFTT results and get put in a pace group instead of lumped into the back with a million other people.

So if I run the Georgia ING half this coming March I can send in my time for the Disney half in January 2009? Do they only accept faster pace times or can they be lower?

Anyone know if they'll accept 10K times for the half?

It is possible for them to stick you in ANY corral without a proof of time. A POT just shows them that you have the potential to make your estimated finish time for Disney.

I submitted for the Disneyland half even though it wasn't necessary and they had no problem accepting it. (ended up not participating due to pregnancy and horrible morning sickness)

I know that the half marathon pace must be better than a 2:15 to move you to a higher corral. As for the 10k time, I don't know.

Why don't you run the Silver Comet half on October 28th? Its a nice flat course that a lot of people use to get a PR.

The ING Georgia is a large race with lots of hills. I expect that it will be better managed this year but It can be a tough course. If you are worried that you won't make the 2:15 cut off then I would definately consider looking for an alternate race as a qualifier. Even the Silver Comet next fall would get you in a better corral for 2009.

As for the Peachtree, DEFINATELY send in any time you have. Even a 2 hour 10k would help! To get a timing chip you must have a 10k time under 54 minutes though. Two years ago. Dh and I sent in times that were right at an hour and got in group 2. This year we were in the timed group and I have to say I didn't like it as much. Those guys are way to serious.

Thanks Cecilia.

I wouldn't be ready to run the Sliver Comet. I do like that path, though. I'll keep that in mind for next year.

I'm not fast by any means and have yet to run a half. I was just curious how the corrals work in these larger races.

So it sounds like it wouldn't make any difference to me with the Disney half if I sent in a time cause there is no way I'd run it that fast. So I guess I'll be lumped in the back.

I will definitely send in my time to the Peachtree since it is so big. I ran the RFTT and my pace was 11:47, a tad slow for me - I've been running 11:00 to 11:15 according to my Garmin. I insisted to my DH that we get in the back cause I was worried I would get in the way of the faster runners, but then spent the first one to two miles trying to go around people walking. I'm new to this and just didn't know. Did you drop off your Peachtree form at a certain post office so it would get there faster? Did you send both DH and your forms in the same envelope?

I'm thinking about doing a Thanksgiving Day 10K (Gobble Jog at Marietta Square). It says they are expecting 4,000 people this year. Have you done this one? It is chip timed and can be used as a qualifier. Maybe my time will be better than at RFFT.

DH did the ING last year and is already signed up for this one. He said it was hilly, but we live in a hilly neighborhood and are sorta used to running on hills. He thought it was disorganized, too. Surely, they will have learned some for this year. I dunno. It might be jealous watching again this year. Seems like a good first half for me since there is no pace requirement for the half since it shares the full's course? :confused3
