I give up, it's time to do something. DH and I are going to explode if we don't get our weight under control.

I decided on Atkins to start with. DH did very well with it before, so he's psyched. I had a problem adjusting to it, but I want to give it another try.

It's our first day, and I already have that icky taste from not getting any carbs. I can't believe it. This is why I quit the last time.:( :( :(

I don't want to have us following two different diets.

Any suggestions for getting through carb withdrawal??:(

Hi regina..

Keep in mind that icky taste is your body fighting fat!! That means you are doing something right.

The first thing you should do is join these WISH boards!! Everyone here will walk you through...day by day...minute by minute if need be.

The first week or so is the hardest on Atkins...but it will fade.

It is much easier for both of you to be on the same diet...my DH and I are both doing Atkins, and it does make life so much easier!!

Read the post about getting your wish clippie...post it on your signature...and Welcome!!!

Tracy

WoooooooHooooooo Regina!! It's so great to see you here my friend!

First, don't give up. I almost did during the carb-withdrawl but I hung in there and feel so much better now. It took me about 3 days, so you almost have one down! If you get headaches, take some ibuprofen, drink tons of water (this was my mistake and it does help) and make sure you get plenty of sleep. Brush your teeth often. I carried, and still carry a small bottle of mouthwash for the 'icky' taste and it makes a world of difference. I also have used low-carb mints (until this week on the Alex Challenge). Long baths really help take your mind off of a lot! :)

Make sure you grab a 'Member' clipart and turn that frown upside down (ugh, did I just say that  ) ;)

You CAN do this Reg! :)

Reg...drink tons of water...have some extra strength Tylenol, and be prepared for the worse and maybe it won't happen. My DH and I were carb addict...we ate 1 loaf of Italian bread a night with dinner which always included a pasta. I had no withdrawl symptom, he did. They only way to do it is just suffer through it, but the water does help.

I am so happy you are doing this. Please yell if you need any help. I am on Atkins too, and would be happy to answer any questions or lead you to info. HUGS sweetie, you took the biggest step already :)

Hey Regina!! So glad you are here!! That first week on Atkins was okay for me, but I did suffer carb withdrawal big time! Water seemed to help that go away though!! :)

Hugs!! You can do it!! We are all here to help you through it!! :)

Hi, Regina!

Just stick with it! I have never done Atkins, but there are lots of people here who are doing it and they have had great results. If you can just stick with it through the first few days/weeks, then it seems like all of a sudden your body adjusts and you feel GREAT! :)

Hope to see you posting often! There is so much support and encouragement here - it's amazing!!!! WELCOME!!!

It's so great to see you here Regina. There are a lot of us on the Atkins plan. I'm on that plan and I'm doing quite well, except when that disgusting bloat fairy visits

I had no withdrawal but Wilgus did, he was feeling like a new person by day 4.

I have to admit that I am jealous that you have that icky taste in your mouth and you are only on day 1. That can only mean that you are already in ketosis. It took me four days to get there. I can't wait to see how much you lose this first week. Can you believe that Bean lost 11 pounds her first week on Atkins? I think that is just totally unfair ;)

Hang in there, my friend. You can do this. I know you can. If you hit a rough spot run over here to WISH. We have a great support group here, we will help you.

I think you're going to do just great with this. We'll do this together, you'll see, WISH really helps.

psssst Regina--everyone here thinks I'm really nice, don't blow my cover, okay?

My carb withdrawal was very bad. I had terrible headaches and even felt flu like for the better part of a week.

Stick with it Regina! You will soon feel better than ever. Please feel free to PM me anytime if you need some quick ideas!
