Where do I go to get DS's hair cut?

He's got quite the head of hair! Everyone always comments on how much they love it, but it is finally getting into his eyes. Do we take him to the barber? A place like Super Cuts? Have his grandma do it? It's not like he can know to sit still!

*looking around nervously, wondering why someone else hasn't suggested this yet*

I hear the Magic Kingdom has a great barber! I think you should go there. Good idea, no? :teeth:

The Barber Shop in Magic Kingdom! :p :bounce:

If you can wait to get a professional cut until your next trip, he'll get a set of "First Haircut" mouse ears!

I know how you feel. My baby's hair grows like mad. Even when he sits on my lap, he won't stay still enough for me to trust anybody to go near his face with those sharp pointed scissors.

We finally gave up and I purchased a pair of clippers. I put it on the longest guard and trim him up ever 3 or 4 weeks.

I want to do the Main Street Barber so bad! But that is a year away and he will never make it. I wish I could post a pic and show you a current one.

So I should have grandma do it? She has always cut DHs hair.

My dh cut our boys' hair the first couple years, then we took them to the person who does mine or my cousin. When we did my first child's hair, we would put him in his plastic carry seat (like an infant car seat) and trim it. Sometimes he was asleep when we did it. Other times, I distracted him while Dad worked on the hair.

We started having DS's hair cut when he was about 10 months old, when a sweet little old lady at the bank told me what a pretty little girl I had (mind you, he was in Navy Blue, with black sneakers on, and looks 'all boy')

I took him to a Super Cuts kind of place, sat him on my lap, and the girl who cut it went super quick, and gave him a 'little boy regular' cut.

He now goes to the girl who does my hair, and gets his buzz cut (long #2 on the clippers)

When my baby needed a haircut at just a little over a year old, I took him to my salon and let my hairdresser cut his hair. I like a neat-looking little boy--I wasn't one of those moms who let her little one grown a shoulder-length mop of curls before getting it cut.

I knew he wasn't going to like an older man messing with his hair--like the barber shop guys would. My hairdresser has a little boy the same age as he is, so she knew how to treat him where he'd be O.K.

We went to her until last year (he's 7 now), then switched over to SuperCuts. I bring him there because it's easier than making appointments with the hairdresser. That said, I need to stay alert with the hair-cutters there to make sure they cut enough. I keep his head buzzed now.

If you go to a salon, the "sit on my lap" method is fairly successful.

Back when we couldn't afford any kind of professional haircuts, I would cut my kids' hair in the bathtub. It was easier for me to make sure I was cutting the hair straight when it was wet. Cleanup was a breeze; let most of the water out and use a paper towel to strain out the hair. The kids were very happy to sit in the same place and play in the water while I took my time trying to make it look good. :p

Do you have a children's hair salon nearby? When my son was that age we took him to a local salon where the little ones sat in boats or cars while getting a trim, and all the stylists were geared to kid cuts. Worked like a charm. :)

Hope you post a picture after the cut!
