Where can I get dishes that my DH and I or my DD and I can share? I know there are some food places that just serve bad food so help me steer clear of those places as well.

Thanks.

The food at Red Rockets Pizza Port is okay. The pizza is expensive for what you get and not the greatest but the pasta with meatballs is always too much for me and I can eat a lot. It is fine enough pasta with red sauce, nothing spectacular though.

I thought the whole pizza was a great deal. I think it was just upwards of $20 and would easily feed 4 people. That's a good deal at Disneyland. I thought the pizza tasted fine, but I have not had the pasta.

We like the River Belle Terrace. I always share my food with my son and it was $13 with an AP for a huge (hot) turkey sammy, beans, a pickle, and my choice of a side salad. I can never finish it even when my son shares!

Tomorrowland Terrace breakfast is generous, and includes a drink.

The Penne Pasta plate at Plaza Inn is huge. However, for the same cost as that plate you can get two kid's meals of the pasta, which include small bottles of water (or a small soda on request, or milk or juice I think), apple wedges, carrots I think, and the same total breadstick that you would get with the plate (kid's meal has half a breadstick, one plate gives one full breadstick). Get a side salad and you're full!

And if anyone is young enough to appreciate them, with the kids meals you get a magic straw (changes colors with cold drinks) and you can wipe out and keep the Mickey-shaped plastic plate. :)

Oh, and a Rancho del Zocalo and a Cocina Cucamonga platter was enough to feed me and hubby. And again, their kid's meal is a nice, proper amount of food, and there's something really really good IMO about their bean burritos!

We think the best place to get bang for your buck (as well as good food) is Whitewater Snacks. My DD12 and I usually share a Beef Dip (can sub the fries for fresh fruit), or my DH and I share the yummy chicken burger with guacomole in it. There's a small pizza (about 6 slices) that my DDs once shared. Prices are about $6.99-$8.99.

Here are my picks:
Rancho Del Zocolo~
Get two of these and bring your own water, use your AP discount, and 2 can eat for under 20- and be stuffed.
Red Chile Enchilada Platter -- Four Cheese Enchiladas with Red Chile sauce. $9.49
Royal Street Veranda~
Creamy Clam Chowder - Served in a sourdough bread bowl $8.69
Steak Gumbo - Served in a sourdough bread bowl $8.69
Vegetarian Gumbo - Served in a sourdough bread bowl $8.69
Split one of these and you will be stuffed , you can eat the bowl!
Coca~Cola~Corner~
Kid's Hot Dog - Served with a fruit cup or Fruitabu Organic Fruit Snack, fun straw, and choice of small Low-fat milk, juice or small bottled water. $5.59
Chips and soda available upon request
Or you can do the Chimichanga or Turkeyleg route. The Turkey Legs are $7.50- o$8.00. I think the Chimichanga's are around $6.00.
The Turkey legs are huge! But then you will need a nap. :rotfl2:
If you like coffee, get a cup at the Market house, save your receipt and get free coffee all day long. You dont need to save the cup just the receipt.
I would stay away from the Bengal BBQ. It is really good, but to get enough to fill you up, you might as well go eat at a restaurant. Good for a snack though but not if you are hungry hungry.
I am not a corndog on a stick kind of gal but I hear they are to die for.
You can go to allears.net to see all of the menus with prices.
My best idea is to bring your own water, and eat a big meal before you get to the park. Get there full or your food budget may go out the window. Have a great time!

We always split the fried chicken at the Plaza. 3 pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans and a biscuit for $13 w/o AP discount.

In DCA - we get either the soup or salad in the bread bowl for $8.95 and ask for the bowl on the side with butter. That way, we can save some of the bread for later snacking and it won't get soggy. Two orders gives you two big bread bowls!

Definitely Whitewater Snacks, Rancho and the corndog place in DCA (I'm not usually a corndog on a stick kind of gal but those dogs rock!)

The chicken nachos at Whitewater Snacks and the chicken fusilli pasta at Redd Rocket's Pizza Port. The pasta is a HUGE serving!

I think it depends on what kind of food you enjoy. The Monte Cristo at Cafe Orleans is great for sharing - very tasty, but way too much for one person (too rich and too big). The soup in a bread bowl at Pacific Wharf is good - not a ton of soup, but the bread is a lot. The corn dogs are huge and really good (awesome snack to share!). The burgers are Taste Pilot's were nice - and big - and come with criss cross fries and a toppings bar.

I told my DS that we are sharing lots this trip. Last trip we did the dining plan and ended up throwing away so much food because we each ordered our own meals everywhere. We know better this time!

White Water Snacks has a huge chicken sandwhich that my DH and I split the second time because we were so stuffed the first time. You also get a good amount of fries with it. If you tell them you want to split it, they will cut it in half for you in the kitchen. (By chicken sandwhich, I mean a large piece of white chicken on a hamburger bun. )

We also tried the chicken sandwhich at Taste Pilot but it was much smaller and didn't include guacamole.

where is white water snacks, having been to dlr three times and heading again this december. i have never heard of it. i like the place, forget what its called, village hause or something. 8 bucks will get you a big cheeseburger and fries.. shame drinks are extra. but those burgers are huge and the fries are plentiful.

That is such a good idea. I would never have even thought to do that. Obviously they have normal bowls at the ready, for just this sort of request?

It's in the Grand Californian. They serve breakfast and lunch, and I think they serve an early dinner too (but I could be wrong). I can't recall how to get there right now, but you can ask CMs and there might be signs.

I keep meaning to try Whitewater snacks but I forget every time. I'll definitely try it in October.

If you have AAA, you can get a discount at the Plaza inn, we really enjoy The Plaze inn. The Pasta at Pizza Port is GREAT also! Taste of Pilots grill is very good also!

Steer clear of the Hungry Bear restaurant. The food is terrible:sick: . I'm not sure about portions, but I remember throwing away two chicken sandwichs w/ fries. They weren't even touched (tried a bite of one.) It was cold and nasty. The line was huge, so it was a horrible surprise to discover the awful food.

Cafe N.O. for the monte cristo is a good idea. Delicious, and very filling. My mom, me, and my oldest son shared that w/ the pomme fritts. It was enough for the three of us last year.

They do. If they don't get overzealous and cut the "filling holes" out of too many loaves in advance for the lunch rush, you get a whole loaf. If they went a little crazy, you got one with the plug stuffed back in. My 3 yr old and I both get a little cranky (read IMO - my husband's may vary) when our blood sugar gets low, so having the bread handy for snacking is a very good thing! I feel like we have a set of poi balls hanging off the stroller when we leave with our loaves in tow!

To get there, just go out the GCH hotel exit of DCA - turn left at the end of the portcullis/tunnel - you can only go left or right. It's at the end of the hall/path/building - past the spa and the large bear sculpture.
