I can't find my daughter's BC. Does anyone know where I can get another one from?

Thanks!!

Valerie

I just went through this with my children on Wednesday.. You need to get a copy of it from the town in which she was born. I just called over there and received instructions from them. I had to fax them both a request form and a copy of my picture ID. One city needed proof of address (i.e., utility bill). They charged my credit card and I got both certificates today.

You might be able to get it from your county health office but I got mine from the state. Was able to fill out form online and print. Then I mailed and got it back in about 6 weeks. Go to your states website and you should be able to do a search!

We had an interesting experience. DH was born in California 60 years ago. For our 1999 cruise I got a copy of his birth cert. as we did not have one. I misplaced it and needed to order another 3 cruises later in 2003. That time we got a note back from the state of California saying they had no record of his birth. I searched our entire house and did find the first one, so he was able to cruise. But we were certainly puzzled how the records could have disappeared in 3 years. We are planning a trip to Disneyland this summer and I think I will try to make a visit to the local Orange County registrar and see what's up with that. I still have the "we never heard of him letter". :confused3

Thanks for the help!~! I just ordered her birth certificate from Vitalcheck.com. It should be here in abut 2 weeks. Thanks again for all your help!! :wave2:

I have no first hand experience with vitalcheck. But several have posted on this board that they only provide copies of birth certificates from some states, not CERTIFIED copies....so buyer beware. In otherwords, useless copies.

If you live in the same state in which you were born in you can go down to any public records office and request a certifyed copy of a BC...You don't have to go to the orinanal town, or even county...just the state.

I think on Vital check...you have an option of picking certifyed or not...But they do charge alot more and tend to take alot longer to get...than contacting the records dept yourself...

Even if you don't live in the same state in which you were born in it's just as easy and alot cheeper to call and order a BC from the State your needing it from.

Well I ordered mine without a problem with Vitalcheck and I even called DCL who then transferred me down to the port directly b/c I was nervous that my seal seemed to only be a little raised and the lady at the port assured me that my copy will be fine. The vitalcheck copy actually mirrors the copy I have of my original birthcertificate and has the same numbers and everything so it better be okay or heads will be rolling let me tell ya!

I was born in California, and I just checked the Vitalcheck website. You do have a choiced of certified, or just a copy, but the cost is the same. Don't know why anyone would want just an uncertified copy.
Also if you were born in California, Vitalcheck needs a notarized form sent in first before they can get the birth certificate. California will only give a copy of a birth certificate to the person named on it, their parent/child/guardian or someone with power of attorney for that person. Part of post 9-11 security I suspect, and something I suspect other states will be doing.
