going to plan a disney trip later this year...ive obly been once over spring break 07..when i discovered this site..i remember hearing about a time of year when they ofer the free dining plan...where do i go to take advantage??? and do i understand correctly that when using the plan i must now pay the 18% tip??? we used the dining plan in 07 and i thought it was great although i think we had appatizers included but anyway could use some advice from the experets thanks

Since 2005, Disney has been offereing Free Dining during the last part of August until the end of September, give or take a few days. It has already been offered to UK visitors for this September and to those of us who were there at WDW during Free Dining this past September for the dates of August 30 - September 27 2008. The free dining for this year should be announced during the first week of April. The first couple of days it will only be open to Disney Visa holders and then will open up to the general public.

This year's DP does NOT include tips or an appetizer. To qualify for Free Dining you must stay on Disney property and you have to book a package, ie. rooom, tickets and dining.

You can go ahead and book now and try to apply the dining code when it comes out, but there are not guarantees that you won't have to rebook. A number of people had to rebook last year.

im going to book through disney travel...will they tell me the code??where will the code show up at? im not a disney card holder and im not booking airfare with them i will be driving but i am staying on site buying tickets through them and do want the dining plan we like it before

The code will not come out until about the first week of April. Just keep watching the Disboards. The moment it comes available to the public the code will be one here. Since you do not have a Disney Visa you should come up with some back up choices for resorts. All-star Movies and Pop will sell out first for the values. Each resort is only allotted so many packages.

Port Orleans Riverside is going to be very popular because a lot of 5 person familes like to stay there because they have the roll-away bed for the third child. We always book two rooms at the values because we have 4 kids. Someone else on here might remember from the gigantic Free Dining thread from last year if POR sold out.

Parties of 6 will incur an automatic 18% tip (and we are always a party of 6). Most people on here say they tip between 15 - 20%, but I'm not going to get into that. It's a bit of a hot button issue!!! lol
