My cat is missing. I'm the only one home and saw her when I came home from taking DS to school. I have not opened any doors to the outside since. So, I'm 99.9% sure she's still in the house. Usually when I haven't seen her in a while I will look and find her under a bed, but not this time. I've looked under every bed and in every closet. I can't figure out where she could be. I'm getting a little worried.

Mine hides under a dresser.she gets in from behind it 'n then somehow miraculously squeezes her fat body under the bottom drawers. :lmao:

Mine does the same thing.

Some other fave spots:
linen closet
dog carrier
under the bean bag chair
sock drawer

anywhere she can squeeze her body.??????:confused3

I dont know how my fat cat gets in her hiding spot, or how she even found it but my cat gets on top of the dryer and jumps into a 6" opening. She is literally between the living room floor and laundry room ceiling. When she feels like coming out she goes around and just drops down near the ducts. Nothing gets her down until she's ready either.

inside the lining of couches/bed springs/etc, if the bottom cover isn't 100% intact....

if you have a basement, in the rafters/on top of the air vents (had a cat that would get on top of the air vents, as it was close enough to the stairs to crawl on top)

under covers/blankets/etc (might not be easy to spot a small lump unless you're looking for that)

any sounds that attract the cat? Mine comes running if he hears paper being wadded up (something to play with).

OP, can ya go thru the house shakin' a treat can or rustlin' a treat bag to see if she'll bite?

My new kittens manage to squeeze themselves under a dresser that only has a 2 inch opening at the bottom.

This same thing happened once with our older cat. I heard him meowing from my kitchen and it still took us 10 min to find him... He climbed in a drawer and it shut when he jumped in (this drawer is really lose so it opens and closes very easy).

I also had a cat do the very very top shelf of our pantry (which since this is around 8 feet off the floor was hard for us to spot her.

That's a great place to hide!! :rotfl:

Cupboards, closets, garage, under a bed or couch, on top of a hutch. Maybe it got stuck in the basement or attic. Or got outside.

Our cat is HUGE - 26 lbs - so kinda hard to hide - but he goes under the bed, in the closet, inside any available box - behind the couch in the living room (between couch and wall)

he is an indoor only cat - he won't go out even if I leave the door wide open...so that limits his hiding spots - he does like the basement....

If I shake my cats box of food or container of cat treats he comes running from wherever he's hiding. If he didn't come I'd worry because then maybe he's stuck somewhere.

She LOVES tuna. I opened a can and walked around the house with it. When the a/c comes on it will help even more to spread the smell all through the house. If she's not out in 10 minutes I'll be really worried.

My cat isn't much of a hider, but she does love a closet and has gotten trapped in a few times. I would run the can opener. That always brings her running. . .and if she is trapped in a closet she will be MEOOOOOWING.

I never have figured out where mine hides sometimes.

Definitely check the frig. I used to have one that loved to get in it. Also try the bathtub. My current one loves to lick water from the faucet.

Inside the box springs, in the bathtub, on a window, in the TV cabinet, inside the recliner, under the recliner, ON the recliner and the best spot of all -

sitting perfectly still against a dark background in full view - cammo cat.

Again, won't budge until ready. A can opener or the freezer door ( catnip stored in there ) sometimes can help.

Good Luck!

I opened a drawer one time, and my cat's head popped up. :scared1: Almost scared me to death! I never did figure out how she got her fat little self in there.

OP, the tuna idea is great. Go ahead and turn the fan on and that will spread the smell more quickly.

Have you shut any doors inside your house that she could have gotten trapped in? My cat frequently goes into closets and gets trapped in there because noone knew she went inside and they shut the door. Also check any cabinets that may have been opened that she could have climbed into.

Check all the kitchen and bathroom cabinets. Mine like to nudge doors open and get inside. One of the little dears hasn't figured out how to push the door open and will sit, patiently, until someone opens the door for her.

If you have any kind of reclining furniture, check the back. My sofa is a recliner and the back fabric is separated between the two reclining sections. One of my boys likes to get inside the pocket made between fabric and chair frame.

Recheck all closets. Nothing is as quiet as a cat that does not wish to be seen. They are masters at sitting quietly behind coats, shoes, whatever so you may have missed your kitty on the first check.

Good luck. I know how scary it is when one goes missing.
