Hey everyone! We are planning a wedding for May 2010 (in the Disney area :goodvibes ) and we're trying to figure out where to register.

So...

Where did you register...and why? What are the pros and cons of stores you worked with? We want affordable, but know that some well off family members may go for the pricier gifts :woohoo: LOL so we're thinking of maybe 2 places???

Who knows really....but any ideas?

Thanks! :yay:

We registered at Bed, Bath and Beyond and Pampered Chef. BB&B has things for all price ranges and you can use the 20% off coupons on everything which is great for your guests. I also checked prices for our china at Macy's and the sale price was the same as the everyday price at BB&B. I also shop there now, so it made sense. Pampered Chef has some specialty items but the prices are reasonable and I really like their products.

Yay! My&DF's will be the month before. :) We registered at Williams-Sonoma because we LOVE that store and always want stuff from there, but can only afford Sprinkles cupcake mix, lol. We also did Macy*s for towels and luggage and other bathroom things because that's where I like for that kinda' stuff. Finally, we did Target because we want to register for a tv and a PS3 (Blu-Ray). We're also going to do the Disney honeymoon registry because we're having a Disneymoon. :) The con w/W-S was that they put the wrong yr., but they fixed that today over the phone in a jif. There weren't any cons for the others.

We registered for the Disney Honeymoon Registry, Bed Bath & Beyond, Crate & Barrel and Macy's. We needed to pick national chains with Web presence cuz our families are all over.

I have heard many horror stories about Target - apparently if you get multiples of things they won't let you return more than one of them, and the period in which you can return things is very short. Also, you have to have the receipt, which means you might have to ask your guests for them if they don't think to include them in the package.

Most wedding registries give you a long time and they will even let you return things without a receipt. Bed Bath & Beyond is great because they will give you CASH if you have a receipt. Maybe that sounds mercenary, but if, say, nobody bought something you wanted from a different registry, and you got 2 of something from BBB, you could return one for cash and use the money at the other store. :thumbsup2

Thanks guys..

I've heard similar things about Target, looks like we'll be going elsewhere. My friend also said that she registered for certain pictures, plates, etc....but some of it was seasonal and when she went to purchase items to finish sets, etc...they were gone.

Carrie, I also have relatives all over, that's why I was thinking BBB was a good choice. But I've heard good things about Macy's as well...so....

BBB vs. Macys? Pros and Cons? Anybody? :confused3:)

Hmmmm.... Macy's has great sales but lousy regular prices, and BBB always has a 20% off coupon somewhere. Also, I couldn't find much I liked at Macy's until Martha Stewart struck a deal with them a few months later. :teeth: And I had more of a hassle returning stuff at Macy's than at BBB. So... I'monna go with BBB. :thumbsup2

  • Disney Honeymoon Registry
  • Target
  • Crate & Barrel
  • CB2.com

I wanted to make sure to registry at a couple of places that were easy to get to (target, crate & barrel) for those procrastinator shoppers ;)

You do have to check the target registry often to make sure your item is not out of stock now and you'll have to find a replacement. But, you get the most bang for the buck at target with items where luxury is not the highest priority.

I don't know if this is any help, but I've been raving about this site to everyone! We made our gift list (We're from the UK) on http://www.whattogive.com. We've set our list up to include things for our honeymoon, things for our married life (Like a weeks grocery shopping), etc. The idea is that people then click 'I'll get this', meaning that they will go and buy you a certain product, or give you the monetary value of that product in order that you can purchase it yourselves.... :goodvibes It's a bit like the Buy My Honeymoon site, only you don't pay any fees!!

Macy's
Pottery Barn
Williams-Sonoma

All three offer a 10% completion program on anything you buy after the wedding. Macy's had a good deal with their rewards program if you signed up for a Macy's credit card. You got 5% on all gifts purchased for you, and 10% on all things you purchased (not just registry items) and then they mail you a gift card after the wedding. We had just over $50 for doing nothing, so that was nice. Also, Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma are owned by the same company, which means you can use gift cards or store credit at either store. I got a quite a few gift cards, especially for shower gifts, I could use them at either Pottery Barn or Wiliams-Sonoma.

I attempted to do the Honeymoon registry, but never had any luck, maybe its because I'm on a mac, but there were always errors and I could never access the site properly to add items to my registry so I gave up.

Target
Macy's
Disney Honeymoon Registry

We picked Target because we shop there all the time. I know I have heard bad things online about them but all of my friends have registered there so it seamed the natural way to go.
I picked Macy's because my cousins both registered there and all my family got them stuff off of Macy's site so I figured they were old pros :thumbsup2 Plus I found some dishes I liked at Macy's as well.

Thanks for all of the ideas everyone! Goin' off to talk to the BF now!

:goodvibes

We are registered at Crate & Barrel. We've been living together for 3 years now. We have everything we NEED, so our list, is all WANTS!! :thumbsup2

Currently we are registered at Bed, Bath, and Beyond.
We were registered at Target but I could see we were gonna have problems with it so I had it shut down.
Now I am wondering if I should register somewhere else, my mom says walmart because that is the only store in my hometown area, and she says if i want gifts from people around there I better have it, but I really don't know if I want walmart gifts. :rotfl:

I plan on registering at Bed Bath and Beyond, Macy's and Target. I know Target is a pain in the @** but we want an xbox 360 and BBB doesn't sell those ;)

My mom lives with me and she's living with us once we marry, so I have everything I need for most of the house, this registry is just for the extra fun stuff.
