What a fun thread, I enjoyed reading.
DH and I met in a unique way. He had gone to the church that I had started going to. He had gone before he left for the military, I started after he left. I was 15 and in the youth group. He was 19 and in the Gulf War. The youth group decided to write him letters, being that I didn't know him, I just wrote Good Luck, Thinking of You at the top of someone else's note (and signed my name.) He liked my handwriting (bubbly teenage writing back then,) so he wrote me back, just me by the way. We wrote though 9 months of him being there and as soon as the war was over and he got near a phone he called me. I was in school so he spoke to my grandma who was home at the time. She fell in love with him (for me of course!) and could not wait to tell me when I got home all about their conversation.
About a month later he came home on leave. I surprised him at the airport along with a bunch of people from the youth group. It was funny, he hugged everyone BUT me, he shook my hand. It was funny, he was nervous.
We dated a bit while he was home, then he left with the promise to try to get back sometime in the next year (he was stationed in Germany at the time.) Over the next many months we wrote daily, called weekly, and were falling hard. One night we talked on the phone for 9.5 hours (from Germany), it cost over $1000 for the phone call, but it was worth it, he bought my engagement ring the next day. He came home for Christmas and proposed on Christmas Eve (then took me on a date to see Father of the Bride). I was 16 and everyone told me it was the biggest mistake of my life (except my grandma). We married 2 weeks to the day after I graduated and have been married almost 17 years. We are happier now then ever, he's my very best friend and we have a great family, everyone was wrong, but I forgive them.

(Though now that we have a 15 year old...

)
So, I answered "other" though it was basically through church, and we have been together 19 years and married 16.5.
