Where did you get ready?

I'm just wondering where you and your bridesmaids got/are going to get ready on the morning of your wedding?

I know some brides have done this in hotel rooms, but I was just wondering how much space there was... which brings me on to my next question.

Which hotels have the biggest rooms?

I was planning on getting ready at the hotel I'm staying at, probably the GF, but now I'm not so sure I want to stay here, so I was wondering which hotels have the biggest rooms?

Here are the resorts with the largest rooms, by category

Deluxe = The Contemporary (422 sq. feet)
DVC Studios = Old Key West (376 sq. feet)
Moderate = Caribbean Beach (340 sq. feet)
Value = Family Suites at the All-Stars (520 sq. feet)

Of course a DVC 1- or 2- bedroom villa or a cabin at Ft. Wilderness will have even more room.

If you're really worried about room, you can arrange to reserve a small conference room at one of the convention centers for getting ready. They can't be booked until 2 weeks beforehand, and they have a $500 food and beverage minimum (i.e. it might be cheaper to book a suite or a DVC villa).

We're staying (and getting ready) in a one bedroom at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge (DVC).
I can't even tell you how much I love those units. King-sized bed, laundry AND a Jacuzzi tub? Yes please!!

I'll need the space that morning, what with all those women bustling around.

We got ready at the GF and had plenty of room. Me two bridesmaid, my mom, and my flower girl all got ready there.

My dad and BIL, the flower girls mom, my brother and his GF, Ana and her assistant, and the Disney photographers and videographers were all in and out. It never felt like we needed more space, because we stayed on one side, and the photographers stayed on there side. Plus Ana used the table next to the TV to do our hair, and we used the bathroom to get dressed and do make-up..there was plenty of room!

We stayed at the Beach Club, so I booked a one bedroom suite for the night before the wedding and the night of the wedding. Given the free room, it only cost about $100 to upgrade and with the discounted rooms, it wasn't that expensive to upgrade for the night before. I arranged through room service a breakfast platter with coffee, Mickey waffles, etc. to be delivered the morning of the wedding. My mom, mother in law, and bridesmaids all came to my room to get their hair and make-up done. It was a gorgeous room and gave us plenty of room to walk around, etc.

we are at coronado and we are using my room to et ready in

I have maxine as a planner and she said that we could rent a small ball room at the GF at no charge. We have it reserved for a few hours before our wedding and they are going to have full length mirriors in there and everything :) That might be an option for you:thumbsup2

Wow thats really nice, we had to book a ballroom with a $500 food min so we will probably not be using it. You are so lucky!

I used a ballroom at the GF to get ready in (with my DS and DD!) we had Ana from Beaute Speciale come to us there, CA's for dress steaming and a friend of mine did the makeup. We had loads of space and it was free. My DH, Ds, and our Best Man got ready in our room at the GF. I had food brought to the ballroom which was perfect so everyone was able to eat while we were getting ready. It worked out great!

Wow I really would like to know how you are doing this because my planner told me that I would have to meet the 500 min and that the GF does not allow any outside food...

I will definately look into the Villa's at WL, the space and the jacuzzi sound very good to me! Do you by any chance know what time you can check in to your room? And does the 30% deluxe discount apply here?

So it sounds like the GF rooms are bigger than they look on the pictures, maybe?

That sounds cool, I would *love* that!!!!

I'm gonna email my coordinator now and ask if there would be a charge because that would be really helpful!

Thanks guys!!! Your awesome!!!! :thumbsup2

My planner, Maxine, booked a conference room at the Boardwalk, had a huge mirror and dress rack brought it and we all got ready there. My mum and I arrived early to have breakfast, which they delivered, then all my BM's showed up and the place erupted into laughter for the next hour and a half!

She booked it early but could only confirm it a few weeks ahead of time, which is why I didn't have to pay for it. Had it been confirmed early I would have had to pay.

i got ready in one of the garden suites at the boardwalk and if i had it to do all over again, i wouldn't change a thing. the garden suites are 900+ sq ft. big and they are two stories so there is a ton of room. there's 1.5 bathrooms (huge help when you have 4 women in one room).

Did anyone use the Birdal area of the Wedding Pavilion? Or did you all just get complete ready in a room then go to your wedding location??

This is what we're doing... I'm glad it worked out for you! :lovestruc

You can't actually get ready there. They only bring you there right before the wedding for a final makeup check, get your flowers and all and send you down the aisle. Plus, they're TINY

Let us know what s/he says - the Official Line from DFTW is that you have to meet a food and beverage minimum to book a convention center room to get ready in. It would be a shame if it all just depends on the whim of your planner. :sad2:

I spent the night before the wedding in our Honeymoon room at the GF - we had a turret room in the main building. It was very large - heck, if we'd needed it, someone could have dressed in the walk-in closet! :rotfl:

Because there are windows all around, we had tons of natural light for makeup.

The sink is outside the bathroom, so you have a sink with a huge mirror (I can't remember how many sinks there were) and there was plenty of seating as well with the upholstered chair and couch, table with chairs and the desk chair.

I really liked having the concierge lounge there to grab food from as well - we had a morning ceremony and I didn't want a full meal but was able to graze until I brushed my teeth for the last time!:teeth:

Luckily we have two HUGE side by side villas booked.

The night before the wedding I am going through to stay with my mum in her villa.

The day of the wedding all the guys will be in one villa and all the girls in the other.

It would be great if you could book one of these conference rooms the girls are talking about !

Linz xxx :)
