Where did the grown-ups go?

A young at heart 44 year old here. I've worked very hard for all my wrinkles, gray hair and poundage ! Let's just say I'm well-seasoned, shall we? :goodvibes

on the other hand you could have someone in their 30's that's a total jerk online and just amusing himself..
Personal attacks are not allowed on the DIS, and besides some people actually like my posts.

I'll be 16 in 25 days, but I've never lied about my age.

It's really disconcerting. Where did all of the adults go?

I know exactly what you mean! I was surprised to see this thread because I was wondering the same thing and thought about asking a similar question.

Lately, I find myself hesitating to reply to certain threads because I'm not quite sure of the OP's intent. Are they being serious? Are they being facetious? There also seems to be a lot of new, unfamiliar posters and I'm ambivalent about their intent.

I agree that Disboards is for all ages, but lately I seem to be more uneasy with some of the stuff I'm seeing here.

YOUNG 'UN AND PROUD!

:) But I will be sixteen on Monday!

Happy almost Birthday!

I just had my 56th earlier this month.

36 here- but I love the idea of kids and adults being here-this is about community! And I agree with others that I would rather have my kid here, with all these wonderful Disney loving people than just about anywhere else on the web.

I've thought the same thing - not necessarily an age thing but an immature way of posting that doesn't seem like it fits who they represent themselves as.

It could be that the person has some sort of disability. If you are talking about the thread I'm thinking of, I'd say that is the case. I was rather disgusted at the way people responded to that individual. JMHO. By they way, I'm 53.

I'm gonna be 26, but I'm such a kid at heart it's not even funny. I was even listening to Alvin & the Chipmunks in the car w/my mom today. :teeth:

I want inaminute to correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think she was criticizing the *actual* age of posters here--just the maturity level of some of the posts from actual adult posters.

There are plenty of teens on this board (and I'll use sparx as an example because I think she's a really terrific young woman) with good heads on their shoulders who articulate their opinions with respect, intelligence and common sense--their ages don't come into play. But I, too, have noticed an increase of supposed adults with very immature personas and postings. I'm not speaking of any particular threads--because I can think of a few--but I do think there's an awful lot of intentional pot-stirring and purposeful immaturity going on (that's JMHO--I'm not speaking for inaminute here). Just seems childish.

Unfortunately, I will be turning 35 this December, but I think I'll just skip it and stay 34.:teeth:

There are some VERY mature teens that post here particularly when you compare them to some of the immature adult posters. It's an interesting mix.

I agree! No one knows for sure what's going on there. It makes me wonder who the actual immature person is.

My thoughts, exactly.

I'll be 25 in a week!

As for imature posts, I guess I haven't really noticed. But I have been to other message boards where teens suddenly take over, and it is no longer fun.

Exactly! And I don't think anyone is talking about specific threads. I certainly wasn't. I was talking about a trend over the last several months.
