Where can the Groom get ready?

Hello all,

My Husband to be & I will be staying together the night before the wedding at the GF.
We want to get ready at the same resort to capture 'getting ready' shots with our photographer. Our families will be staying in a villa in kissimmee.

We definitely want to get dressed in separate rooms. Are there rooms at The Grand Floridan he can use to get ready in?

Any suggestions would be great.

Thank you.

I was told there are no rooms, he either needs to get ready in your room, a friend/relatives room, or pay for another room.

My husband left shortly after my makeup/hair artist arrived and then he came back when it was time for him to get dressed and I hid in the bathroom.....definitely not ideal but we were not about to pay for an extra hotel room at the Boardwalk just for him to get ready. The only relative/friend he had staying at the Boardwalk was his brother who was sharing the room with his wife and two kids so, that really wasn't ideal. His best friend was staying at Pop but since our wedding was at the Boardwalk, it didn't really make sense for him to stay or get ready at a separate resort. We didn't have a car with us, I guess he could have taken a cab but all in all, it just didn't make sense to have him get ready somewhere else.

Sorry, this isn't the response you were looking for.

It is difficult. Personally I don't think it's worth the money, plus staying at the GF is expensive!
If we did get another room, I'm sure there will be problem with check in and check out times too!? :confused3

Does your photographer come with a second shooter? I know a lot of people will get ready at separate resorts and it isn't a problem because their photo/video are a married couple team or often bring a second shooter with them as part of the day regardless.

I believe you can reserve some of the conference-type rooms at the resorts so long as you pay the food & beverage minimum required for the room and it's not already booked. I've seen it occasionally where a bride will order some food & drinks for her and her bridal party and get ready in say, the Whitehall room (please don't quote me on WH actually being an option for this, I just know it's at GF!) while the groom uses the actual hotel room.

There's a nagging voice in the back of my head that says this might not be an option anymore, but it never hurts to ask. I apologize for not being more clear, as this was never something I considered for myself so I didn't research it too much.

Yes, for a $500 food and beverage minimum you can get a room in the convention center to get ready in, but at that price you may as well just get another hotel room. What time are you getting ready? If the GF spa was open, maybe he could book the cheapest treatment (manicure?) and go use their locker room to get ready in.

We have contacted a few photographers we love including Vicki & David Arndt who work together.
I have been looking at Regina Hyman's photography and love her style too!
Hard decisions:scratchin

Thank you Carrie,
We are hoping for a 2.30pm Ceremony.
The spa locker room could be a good option, thank you for this suggestion.
Ideally I would like to capture Sam getting ready by our photographer & videographer, i'm unsure how this would look in a locker changing room?
I may have to pay for another hotel room! The only problem having another room for Sam to get ready in, is the check in and out times!?:confused3

If you're reserving another room reserve it for the night before the wedding. Check-out time is generally 11:30 but if you speak to the front desk they MAY be able to do a late checkout around 12 or 1. If you're doing first look pictures that should be late enough. If not you might have to book some extra photography time to be able to use the room. Also I very much doubt that you'd be allowed to shoot pics/video in the GF locker room.
