JMHO, but you may want to rethink this... although people who are very close to you may prefer to get you Disney Dollars, it seems to me that this would be the equivalent to asking your guests to give you cash as a wedding gift. A definite faux pas in the world of manners. It puts people who are on a budget yet trying to find you a nice gift in an uncomfortable position. You can find lots of nice gifts on sale right now, but TDS hasn't had a sale on D$$ lately ;).

Perhaps a happy medium would be to casually mention your love of all things Disney, and encourage your guests to shop at the Disney Store for your gifts. Some may come up with the idea of Disney $$ on their own. Again, JMTCW. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

I was going to post the same thing as the above poster, but didn't want to seem ... I don't know, like I was butting into it.

What I would do, would be to have your mother or sister or whoever mention to people you would like Disney Dollars. I wouldn't "register" for them or write that on a card and put it in your invitation. MANY people will ask your mother (and the grooms mother) what you really want. That is when they can say it would be nice to have Disney Dollars for your honeymoon.

When I got married we were poor college students. My family is typical working class living from paycheck to paycheck. So the wedding was a big expense and I didn't want to put that all on my parents. MY DH and I wanted to pay for it. So when people asked my mom what we wanted/needed she mentioned that we were paying for the wedding and could use money instead of something like china. So we got lots of cash and used it to pay for the reception. Some may think this is wrong, but believe me we had as inexpensive wedding as we could.

oh no no no.. we arent coming right out and saying GIVE US CASH... thats definatly rude.. but when people ask where we are registered we mention that we are taking a disney honeymoon.. and steer the conversation toward Disney dollars... and like yall said. have had my mom and sister mention that wed like disney dollars in lieu of toasters and towells. (we have already lived together for 2 years so most of those items have already been purchased! :) )

was just wondering where they could purchase them.

Some people think that Disney Dollars are like gift certificates, but in fact, they are cash. You lose them, they can't be replaced.
An alternate suggestion may be American Express Gold gift checks (purchased typically at a bank) since if you lose them, they can be replaced, just like traveler's checks.

Sorry, I'll join the other posters, asking for Disney Dollars is really no different than asking for cash. Come to think of it some people might think of it as worse than asking for cash, it's just as tacky BUT requires a visit to a mall to get it. It's up to you if you want to ask for DD BUT you're kidding yourself if you think it's any different than asking for cash.

Frequently I'll give cash as a wedding gift BUT it really doesn't matter to me if the money is used for the wedding, honeymoon or used to set up the house.

Part of the wedding "experience" is going back to the department store and exchanging the extra toasters and coffee pots for stuff you need.
