Where can I get laundry tablets?

Well, fellow DISner's they still have the Purex Tablets at Walgreens in Quincy, MA!!! I bought another box just in case. The boxes were marked $4.99 and $1.99 for 24 loads. Since quite a few were marked at $1.99 I took it up to the register and when it did ring up at $4.99 I told the clerk it's $1.99 and it wasn't just marked on this one box but lots of boxes. So, I got them for $1.99! I wont' need anymore for about 3 years!!! :goodvibes
Yea!! :Pinkbounc

Alexander: where are you in the Northeast? I see you are leaving in 9 days. Are you near a Walgreens?

Guess where I'm going today?! Thanks Tink!!! :cool1:

I searched everywhere for these for our last trip and could not find them. Our grocery stores used to carry the Wisk ones, but no longer do. I know a couple people who had their bags searched for bringing the bags of powder with them. So, I don't think I want to do that. I hope I can find them for our next trip, otherwise, I guess I will buy detergent there. :flower:

FYI, i looked last night and the Chlorine Bleach Tabs i have are made by Carbona. You guys in MA are lucky, put your zip in the search and there are tons of stores with Purex Tabs. Nothing by me, or Orlando within 100 miles.

We are in Upstate NY. I just ran the search and we would have to go to Horseheads, a mere 91.36 miles away!

Actually for our Feb. trip (in 9 days :cool1: ), we are going to stay with my parents in their condo in Orlando. It wasn't my first choice, but we could not get a villa at any of the DVC resorts. So I'll just use mom's laundry detergent!

I did a search on the dial product link provided in a previous post and it listed several Shaw's supermarkets that carry the Purex tabs. Shaw's in Brockton, Norwood, and Easton were listed. I'm going to check the strore in Easton this week and I'll let you know what I find. It's not a huge deal if I don't find these as we're driving and can pack what we want, but it would sure make things a little easier if I can find them!

Okay, at least I know I haven't gone insane. I noticed that the supply of Tide tabs in our DVC bag was getting low before our December trip and couldn't find new ones anywhere! I think I bought a large box in 2002 and we've kept it in our DVC bag (with the basket coffee filters, etc...) ever since.

Oh, geez, are we now going to have to stockpile these when we find them....then determine whether the load of laundry we have is tab-worthy? ;)

We always drive, so I guess we'll be back to bringing baggies of detergent like we did in the pre-tab days....if I don't find a local source.

I found mine online at www.quixtar.com.

A box of 96 tabs costs $35.85 (that's about .37 cents per load)
They will charge you for shipping - sorry, I don't remember what that cost.

I think this product works really well. One box has lasted me 2 years already - one tablet really does do a whole wash load. We usually do at least 4 loads of wash a trip - maybe more like 8 loads a trip.
(They also have dishwasher soap in tablet form, too.)

I joined the website to order - anybody who decides that they want to get these, please let the website know that I sent you. (Kay Potucek)

Here's the info from the online page:
SKU: 100297 SA8® Tablets Detergent
Dissolves in less than 30 seconds
SA8 Tablets completely dissolve in 30 seconds or less. And they dissolve quickly in all water temperatures. Your laundry rinses clean with a fresh, clean fragrance.
Up to 96 wash loads 96 tabs
$35.85

Thank you!! Those look great!! I will definitely list you as a reference!!

That's always a better option! :)
Have fun!

I live in Naperville, Il...

FYI, I love the tablets, but also tried last trip using liquid in the suitcase.

Put tape around the top, made sure there was a little air for compression, and put it in a sealed zip lock baggie, in case of accident.

It worked great. No fuss, no muss.

BTW, I emailed Dove (Purex) about not finding the tabs anywhere near me, and how convenient they for traveling. Basically, if you can still find them in your area - BUY THEM!!!

Their reply is below:

Dear Mr. S:

Thank you for taking the time to contact The Dial Corporation concerning Purex Tabs.

Because the overall demand for this product was so slight, it has been discontinued and is no longer available as part of our product line.

For continuing information about our products and our company, we hope you'll checkout our website at www.dialcorp.com.

Oh, no..... :faint: What are we all going to do?! :confused3

Thanks for the research, Chuck.

Goldilocks, I did a search on the site yesterday for our area and there are two Jewel-Osco that apparently have them in stock. One in Aurora and one in West Chicago. Too much of a hike for me for just laundry tabs....

Once I run out of my Tide tabs, I think I'll just buy the smallest bottle when I stop at a store in the WDW area and leave it for the mousekeeper when I check out.

I know...a new product for DCV merchandise: laundry tabs with the DVC motto! :earboy2:

Our local BJs store (Waterford, CT) just advertised a Tide "Bucket" special that included a box of Tide Tablets, a small bottle of Tide liquid, and a stain scrubbing brush all packaged in a plastic bucket. I bought one last week...there were lots of them still available.

thanks to Tink03477 I got them 2 boxes!! Yah whoo!

You guys are great!!! I now have so many links to a product that I thought was no longer made.

Thanks,

Geesh! I would have to travel between 94 and 126 miles to get the Tide ones! I'm thinking not enough people that live where I do travel enough! Or if they do, they ain't doin' their laundry! ;)

Ian and Kim, thank you both for the continuing research. This board is great!

I'm thinking Peapod may be the way to go. There were some stores in the Chicago area on the Tide site but I don't think I'm fanatical enough to drive around just for the laundry tabs. But then again, maybe I am!
