Sorry if this is not the forum. I believe I once saw something on this before.

I think the brand was Purex. I rememberwhen I first began reading posts on disboards, that some people brought them with them.

I think I even remember someone saying they had purchased theirs at Walgreens in Quincy, Ma. This is doable for me, but not sure if the brand is Purex. If I'm going to take the trip a few miles away, I would like to be sure what I'm looking for.

Thanks.

We used the Purex tablets at okw. They were great for travel - no spilling, and they are individually packaged. I got mine at Wal-Mart - but I think Target may have them as well. have fun!

There are MANY brands of those now. Go to any grocery store and you will find some. I have used the Purex ones and Tide ones. Check the upper shelves at the store above the regular powder (or just look around in that area). It is a common product now.

I always bought the Tide brand tablets. But as of lately (past 6 months) I can't find any brand of the tablets in my stores. Has anyone purchased them recently? They are so easy to pack in the suitcase!

My local supermarket never has the tablets anymore but they are readily available in any supermarket around WDW.

Before our January trip, we went to scope out Big Lots and found small bottles of Tide liquid detergent. Worked great and easy to carry the two we bought.

I can't find the tablets anywhere around the Chicago area. Tide doesn't even list the tablets on their website anymore!

How funny, i just posted about these on the budget board. They are no longer listed on the Purex website. I had my sister buy a bunch of boxes in West Palm Beach about a year ago. She just today said she has not seen them in 6 months. Tide and Wisk stopped making theirs more than a year ago.

I do believe, don't have the name(not purex), that they still make a chlorine tablet my sister got in FL. I have them at home if you need the name.

These are super convenient, they are individually wrapped and you don't have to worry about them in your luggage, and cheap. If someone else makes them i'd love to know.

:thewave: Hey, that was me!!! :goodvibes I did buy them at Walgreens in Quincy. I still have some since I only need to take 3 pkgs a trip (2 in a pkg). Best things I ever bought. So easy to travel with. I have to go by there tonight. I'll take a look and see if they still have them and post when I get home to let you know.
I'll keep my fingers crossed and lots of Pixie Dust for you! :wizard:

I sure hope we can find them. Last year we packed laundry detergent premeasured in ziplock bags in our checked luggage. We also packed ice tea and lemonade mix. I don't think it was a coincidence that that piece of our luggage did not get off the plane with our other pieces and it was delivered to BCV at about 10 pm that night. Then, on our trip home, when it came off the conveyor belt, it had a notice that it had been opened and inspected.

Guess since 911 they are very cautious when they suspect suspicious powders and either worried about bombs, or drugs. I'll be real careful about any powders I pack this time.

I have looked for the tablets for 3 years now and cannot find them anywhere! I've checked Walmart, Target, Kmart and all of the grocery stores we have here. I'm kind of glad to hear other say they can't find them. I thought I must be crazy! I usually just buy a box from the machine in the laundry room. They only cost a buck each, and I usually only do two loads while we are there.

Well, fellow DISner's they still have the Purex Tablets at Walgreens in Quincy, MA!!! I bought another box just in case. The boxes were marked $4.99 and $1.99 for 24 loads. Since quite a few were marked at $1.99 I took it up to the register and when it did ring up at $4.99 I told the clerk it's $1.99 and it wasn't just marked on this one box but lots of boxes. So, I got them for $1.99! I wont' need anymore for about 3 years!!! :goodvibes
Yea!! :Pinkbounc

Alexander: where are you in the Northeast? I see you are leaving in 9 days. Are you near a Walgreens?

When we got to Orlando last year, we looked for the tablets since we were going to be there for 12 days and staying in 3 different hotels, but when we stopped at Albertson's, they didn't have any. We just bought a small box that wasn't near as easy to move and we didn't use 1/2 of it. I did leave it in the BCV laundry room with a sign so someone would use it.

I believe the Purex may still be available at Shaw's supermarkets in Nashua and Merrimack NH. Good luck!

I still have some Tide tablets left from a couple of years ago. I've only been using them for DVC trips. I had noticed that they are no longer available around here when I was shopping for my daughter who was going off to college. I did see some Purex on the shelfs at our Walgreen's. Sounds like I better stock up!

Does anyone know the shelf life of detergent!?

I found mine online at www.quixtar.com.

A box of 96 tabs costs $35.85 (that's about .37 cents per load)
They will charge you for shipping - sorry, I don't remember what that cost.

I think this product works really well. One box has lasted me 2 years already - one tablet really does do a whole wash load. We usually do at least 4 loads of wash a trip - maybe more like 8 loads a trip.
(They also have dishwasher soap in tablet form, too.)

I joined the website to order - anybody who decides that they want to get these, please let the website know that I sent you. (Kay Potucek)

Here's the info from the online page:
