I've been to Target and two Walmarts and cannot find clear ornaments. I found the glass clear ones at Target and plastic ornaments at Walmart but all in color-none clear! I want to take them to the beach and let the boys fill them with sand and small shells for small gifts to family when we go to visit for Christmas. I think it will be a nice idea since we've just moved to the ocean (almost a year ago now!) to kind of make it more personal than just another ornament.

So, where can I find the clear plastic ornaments that aren't going to cost me an arm and a leg???? :goodvibes

I would try a major craft store...Michaels, AC Moore or Hobby Lobby are the ones that come to mind. Also - if you have a "super" JoAnn Fabrics near you, they have a great craft section.

Thanks! The only one of those I have near me is a Michaels. I was in there a week or so ago and they didn't have any ornaments....maybe they were just slow or I totally missed them while I was in the store! :rolleyes1

I'll pop in there this week.

Thanks!

I've used both and they're very nice. However, FWIW, if you're using sand or even shells, they get very heavy. These ornaments are split down the middle (you pop them together). So if you fill them with heavy stuff, make sure you use some gorilla glue or something to hold them tight. Alternately, if you're using sand (I've done this before), spread a coating of clear glue and coat the ornament with sand. It will be much lighter, yet still look full of sand.

Thanks for the web site suggestions. I went to Michael's earlier this week and was told they only carry the glass ornaments-no plastic! :headache: So now I'm still in search of the plactic ornaments....may have to hurry up and order them on line!

Thanks for the idea about the glue as well. I wouldn't have thought of that!

We're going shelling on Tuesday when my mom's in town so I'll have the boys start collecting small shells then and head out to get the sand from the beach another day. If it comes down to it, I'll use the glass but I'd hate for it to shatter and someone be sweeping up sand for years to come because of me and my "great" ideas! :rotfl2:

I know this is an old thread, but ....

I just bought some clear, plastic ornaments today at Michael's for $.49 -- reg. $.79 but on sale for 40% off!

They're really nice - look just like the round, clear glass ornaments, but are plastic. And no seam. They're 1-piece.

Now ........ any ideas on what to fill them with to Disney-ify them?!?!

Oriental Trading has them 12 for $5.99 go to the website and search "Clear oranments"

Our Hobby Lobby has them in both plastic and glass in a ton of different shapes and sizes.
