I've heard so much about them. Are they really THAT good? Do they really taste more like ham bc. they are smoked? How does one eat them? Are they messy? Do people stare at you?
I like the turkey legs (which do sort of taste like smoked ham since they are REALLY smoky-flavored) but I always feel like a barbarian when I eat one. They are indeed pretty messy, and most people eat them just like a kid eats a chicken drumstick--hold on tight to the bottom and take big bites! Once in Disneyland I tried eating one with a knife and fork. Didn't work too well, but it was neater, and easier to share with someone that way.
I think the big attraction of the turkey legs is that it seems like you are getting quite a bit of meat for your money (about $4.50). Plus it's a change from the ordinary. They're not bad, and you will definitely get your protein. That being said, I don't think I'll get one next time. Eating such a big hunk of plain meat just isn't something that's appetizing sometimes!
Don't know how much a white meat lover would care for them... they are juicy and probably a good bit fattier tasting than white meat. Though, my DH prefers breast meat but always enjoys his Turkey Leg, too.
