Does anyone know? I need some new plates and bowls, but hate to buy a boxed set...we NEVER use cups/saucers! Any suggestions? TIA

Do you have Shopko where you are? (If not, I don't know how close to the WI border you might be) They have open stock dishes, etc.

Otherwise, try to find a Corning Revere Factory outlet store, if you can. :)

We have a Corell outlet near us that sells open stock. Walmart also carries certain patterns. I have Callaway (ivy vines) and they carry that.

I see that you are in Illinois. I don't know how far Danville is from Gurnee, but at Gurnee Mills there is a Corelle outlet. That is where I bought all of my dishes.

Walmart has some but if you have an outlet mall near you the Corning Wear outlet stores usually have a fantastic selection.

I need a new set of dishes. My Nikko pattern is no longer being made and too expensive to replace the pieces I need. Everyone says get Corelle, we do have an outlet about an hour from here are the prices worth the drive? Some outlet prices seem to be the same as regular stores. Does anyone have Pfaltzgraff? That's what my Christmas dishes are, but they seem so heavy.

My mom has Pfaltzgraff and I think they are too heavy. That's why I have Corell. Also, I like the flat bottom plates. Pfaltzgraff has a rim at the bottom of theirs and for some reason, that drives me nuts!!!

Pretty sure Target carries them. Call first to make sure.

I agree to check out the Corningware Outlet Store. I have found them to be very reasonable and have found other pieces that match my set that the stores didn't care. ie: a serving platter. In college I never used the cups and saucers too often, instead they seemed to find their way into the garbage in pieces.

We are in the middle of Illiniois, on Indiana border, but I grew up in McHenry/N. Illinois. Gurnee is kind of far to travel for dishes :teeth: ; FYI...I think the outlets in Kenosha have a CorningWare outlet as well. Our Walmart doesn't have the pattern I want.

CeeCee...Yes, Correlle dishes are GREAT, especially with kids. Very sturdy and lightweight!

Thanks for everyone's help. Maybe I can send my mom to Gurnee or Kenosha to look...

I moved into my first apartment in August and bought EVERYTHING from the Corelle outlet (in Williamsburg). They have AWESOME prices and often have really great clearance stuff. I have the Classic Cafe Blue pattern and love it. The outlets also carry Revereware at great prices.

I know that Walmart definitely sells the pieces separately. For Christmas I asked for four 1 quart bowls in my pattern- the ONLY place (incl the two Corelle outlets I checked) that had them was Walmart. :flower:

I bought my initial Corning Ware sets for our beach house at Walmart and then bought serving pieces and more plates at the outlet store. The sets were about the same price as Walmart....but the individual pieces were cheaper at the outlet and they had a much better selection and as a poster above mentioned some pieces that department stores just don't carry.

Plus you can mix and match. My dishes are white and have pink and purple flowers with green leaves. Instead of getting all the serving pieces in the same pattern, I broke it up and got some plain white ones and some white with green trim. I was able to buy extra dinner plates without buying the entire set. I was thrilled to find large soup/salad bowls at the outlet. They are big enough to use as pasta bowls.

I have Pfaltzgraff Yorktowne here at home as my "good dishes" (never was a china and crystal gal). I like them but they are very heavy. I don't think I would be happy using those everyday.

For everyday I use mix and match pastel Fiestaware. I love those dishes.
Not too heavy, always look nice and I love the way the table looks with all the different colors.

Soupermom,

Sent you a PM. There's an outlet mall in Michigan City, IN that's probably closer and easier to get to than Gurnee. They have a corelle outlet store.

I've bought casserole dishes and other odds and ends there.

The outlet mall in Tuscola, IL has a Corningware/Corelle outlet store. Tuscola is just south of Champaign. I am horrible at geography, but I don't think that would be too far from Danville.

OH! I never thought about the Tuscola outlets. It's about a 1hr+ trip, definately do-able. Maybe I can give them a call...THANKS!

If you decide to check out your WalMart also check out other WalMarts in surrounding towns. I'm pretty much centrally located between 3 towns with WalMarts and each of the 3 carries different open stock items. One had the large bowls, another had the dessert/snack plates while the third had the platter in my pattern.
