Where are you staying on your next Disneyland Trip and Why?

Our next trip is in July!! Woohoo! We are staying 6 nights at the GCH. We are staying at the Grand because we are able to get a really great deal! We are very fortunate to be able to stay at the GCH every DL vacation we take and we LOVE it! We used to stay off site all the time... and occasionally a PPH or DLH stay.. but every since staying at the GCH and realizing you never have to leave property and how CLOSE you are to EVERYTHING.. yeah we are hooked. It's seriously like once you stay there.. you can't stay anywhere else. Literally not because of the hotel itself ... I think all the on property sites are amazing and you are lucky just to be able to stay at one of them, but the LOCATION! oh ..my.. sweet.. goodness!

I imagine GCH. We stayed there last year. This year we stayed at DLH and I liked it very much but DH really prefers GCH. It wasn't about the location, our room in the Grand was so far from the lobby that I think our walk from DLH was actually shorter, he just loves the craftsman style. I've stayed offsite also and it was fine but there's something so great about staying in that Disney bubble the whole time you're there! As long as we're able to swing it, we'll stay onsite.

We love Paradise Pier theme park view. We always take advantage of the extra hour in the morning so need to get to bed relatively early. We watch World of Color from our room and then hit the sack. We also love seeing California Adventure all lit up at night. If we aren't staying at PP, we love HoJo. In fact, my daughter when she was younger would choose HoJo over PP.

Going in July and staying at the DLH. Got a military rate and going with a friend who hasn't stayed there before. My other friend who is going and I have stayed there but we <3 this hotel!

Three stays at DLR so far...twice at GC and once at Desert Inn/Suites. Love the GC, but if I'm not using points as DVC, I'm not staying there. We were at the Desert Inn a week or so ago, for four nights. We had a double queen set-up..family room. The guys had one room, dd and I had the other, with a connecting door. It was very convenient to the parks!! Quick walk across the street. The rooms were clean. I do think there was some air quality issue though....we had coughing attacks at night when the A/C was on. Can't say for sure if that was the issue though. The bathrooms were very clean. The free breakfast was 'ok', nothing special. I ate there once, after than, not so much. I had brought cereal with us, and we bought milk, so no problem.
The pool was tiny and indoors, but always seemed to have someone in it! The people there were very helpful and pleasant. Our room was on the ground floor, way at the back. My dh felt it was very dark, and prefers a brighter room.
I would stay there again. We got a good rate...I believe it was about $200 a night for the double rooms.

first DL trip coming up this summer. Booked DoubleTree because we had points, needed a suite, and don't mind a little walk to the gates. We will see!

We are staying in a 1 BR at the Grand cal villas in 5 days! Why? Because we own DVC and are now spoiled by 1BR rooms and being so close!

DH and I ran Avengers in Nov and we couldn't get GCV. We stayed at Best Western Park Place and enjoyed it.

It will be our first trip and we are staying at DLH!!!! So excited! I love the monorail and I can't handle how awesome the pool slide looks. We never splurge on hotels, (we love our ASMovies) so we are beyond stoked for this!

This coming trip in October I'm staying at the Del Sol. It had a good rate and seemed close. Plus I'm doing a recce to see if it's good for when the family comes back next summer.

Last time, we were at the PPH. It was a good splurge for our first trip, but I wouldn't stay there again. Just because of the walk to the gates. Longer than I had wanted and with a kid who hates walking at the best of times... best to cut the whining. Other than that, it was great.

I'll be staying wherever I can get the best deal that doesn't look like total garbage. We're barely in the hotel anyway, so as long as it's got beds and wifi, I'm basically good. We're all able-bodied adults who can walk if we need to or take ART so being right beside the park doesn't matter to us.

I would love to go back to Stanford but it looks like their prices have gone up a lot.

Will be there in less than 3 weeks. Staying at the CAndy Cane. We love the location, the shuttle, and the decent free breakfast. As much as I would love to stay onsite, I can't justify the cost for how little time we spend in our room.

The Grand would be $3110 for our dates, DLH $2286. We are paying under $800 for our 4 nights at the candy cane. So many things I'd rather spend money on than a hotel room that I'm not spending time in.

For my next trip, staying at Candy Cane Inn for the first time.

Previously had stayed twice at Best Western Park Place Inn, and expected to stay there again, but via online booking they did not have availability for all my nights, so that helped me decide to try Candy Cane Inn for something different. (I understand I could try and call for BWPPI, but I'm looking forward to trying Candy Cane this time.)

Booked Desert Inn & Suites a couple of days ago for our tentative trip in April (might be May). Booked it at $79 a night. Stayed there in Oct and it was great. Super close to parks, clean, friendly staff. Will do a booking for May once they open those dates up, just in case.

I have stayed at many of the hotels in and around Disneyland over the years! When I travel alone or with one of my nieces we stay somewhere walking distance that gets me a good price! Some of my faves are Grand Legacy, Motel 6, Desert Inn and Suites and Tropicana. I will be staying three nights at the Desert Inn in two weeks with my youngest niece!

When i travel with my cousin, we stay at one of the three Disney Hotels. We've stayed at all three on more than one occasion and I love them all for different reasons. My favorite is the DLH because of the theming and it's the original!!! I love PPH because the rooms are large and bright and it is the least expensive. I love the convenience of the GCH, but the rooms are small and dark to me and the hotel is so big that our room always seems so far away. We have stayed there the lease due to that and price. I can't pay $500 a night for a place I am laying my head and showering in!

On our upcoming trip, we are staying at the Best Western Park Place Inn again. We usually stay there due to how close it is to the parks - at the end of a long day, there is nothing like crossing the crosswalk and being back in the room quickly. In the past, we have stayed at Hojos, Carousel, Tropicana, DLH and PPH. We really like the Disney hotels but we are not willing to pay the prices ... even if it means EMHs.

Living in Alabama, WDW is our "home" park with regards to proximity, but we LOOOVE going to DLR. Our first trip we stayed at PP and the other three at HOJO. I just found out yesterday that DW may be attending an annual convention in LA next year, so you know what I immediately began to consider.

Anyway, in looking that the hotels that have been mentioned the most, which of these have direct access to the outside and which ones go through a lobby area? Some I think I remember, but not all of them. (Tried using Google Maps, but could not always tell from it)

Fairfield
Camelot
Carousel
Tropicana
BWPPI
Park Vue
Desert Inn
Del Sol
Best Western Anaheim Inn
Grand Legacy at the Park

We leave in a few days for our next trip and we're staying at our fave hotel which is Hojo! The kids pool area can't be beat for my little ones on a summer vacation trip! The beds are amazing! I really like how easy it is to park there. We never have to worry about getting a spot, plus its free! Staff are super friendly! The store is well stocked and even has beer. The keurig coffee maker in the room is a nice bonus too! Mimi's is right next door and I love grabbing muffins there to have for breakfast in the morning. Also love the size of the rooms.

We are staying at Desert Inn & Suites in September. In January we stayed at Park Vue Inn and loved being so close, so that is an important factor for me. Desert Inn is cheaper, well rated, and if I learnt one thing from my last trip it's that we literally just sleep and shower at the hotel. We were in the parks open to close.

I believe that most of the hotels above are all ones you access from the outside. The main place people mention with inside corridors is the HOJO (Howard Johnson's). You might want to start a separate post to get more responses.

Side note: Wow -- so many responses on this thread. // So fun to hear what everyone is doing and their decision making reasoning!
