Where are the wide open fields at DVC?

Last Feb. we stayed a few days at Marriott's Cypress Harbour resort. One very nice thing they had was a soccer field that my sons utilized for playing soccer and baseball.

It got me thinking that there are not too many open field type places in Disney. Does anyone know of any at a DVC resort?

My next thought was that Disney doesn't want us to have "free" time.

Vero has a Basket Ball court, tennis, soccer field, walking trails, and another field somewhere else, not sure where, but DD has been to it. all of this is across the street, you take the tunnel under the road that starts pst the shuffleboard area.

In WDW they call them Golf Courses.;)

HBC

OKW has a basketball Court and Tennis Courts. WHen our kids were younger they'd bring their baseball mitts and were able to throw the ball behind the buildings. Some of the buildings also have a bit of a front lawn.

this is not a field - but it is not bad - use the back trail from OKW and walk over to West Downtown Disney - this is a big back parking lot - that until the Cirque du Soleil opens is about as uncrowded as a parking lot can get - and it is definitely BIG!

also remember that VWL is within walking distance of FW - I think there are several places there - hint - they are near the playgrounds....

BCV has a volleyball court at the BC and a nice beach area to run around. But there's no big fields to run around. I wouldn't play in the creek there.:earseek:

Vero has the bowling lawn right in front of the main lodge for kids to run around on and hear the ocean at the same time. Lots of space on the other side of the road. The crescent lake area has plenty of gree spaces, but non-set up for soccer. There's large grassy areas in front of the YC, and I believe between the YC and Dolphin. The BCV is missing a great oputdoor play area for kids. The little playground in front of the BC isn't enough. A nice jungle gym like Vero would be nice. Someplace for them to work off a little steam without gettting wet.

My kids (2 teenage sons) are sportaholics.

all they do is play football, volleyball, tennis, ect. we have stayed at boardwalk, beachclub, anD YC and they always manage to find friends and space for sports. there are tennis courts at bwv and they are free to dvc members with balls and raquets supplied at community hall. the beach club beach is great for a football throw, and they go over to the dolphin and have basketball games and volleyball on the beach . Dont worry feel bad about other resorts having better open fields then dvc. if your like nike youll just do it, anyway they dont have epcot world showcase a 5 minute walk away. they dont have the convienance that dvc has for what they are intended wdw vacations. I really dont take the kids to fla to play the sports that they so love, but where there is a will there will be a way.
