After readng about the new DLR incentives, all I have to say is...:furious:

I think most of us bought DVC for DISNEY. Where are the DISNEY incentives????????????????????????????????? Not expecting incentives but since we know they're always there, where are the DISNEY INCENTIVES?

Yea, yea, yea, there were some (Fp's and Ap's are good) but ENOUGH with the RCI. As one poster said, "If I wanted RCI, I would have bought RCI"! How about more FP/AP's Dev. pts., etc. and dump the RCI incentives all together.

hahA!!! I totally agree!! That is what my dh and I also said.. we would have added on points at disney doorway to dreams thing in chicago.. but mary poppins tickets and rci trips were'nt for us. we joined for disney not for the hiltons! lets hope new good incentives come out on the 29th...

I agree, I don't want RCI, but I'm happy with my 4 night cruise from our VGC add-on.

It's funny because just yesterday I received a survey request to talk about about my experience with the Doorway to Dreams event in Chicagoland. That is exactly what I said on that survey - "If I wanted RCI, I would have bought RCI - we bought Disney for Disney. Any incentives should be Disney based".

It's especially true at these events I would think -- you are going to get the real Disney-philes, not the people who are worried about committing too much to Disney vacations. That second group may be a target audience, and maybe that's why they made that Travel Channel special the way they did, but it's US coming to the events! MORE DISNEY INCENTIVES! :mic:

Right! And most of those "Disney-philes" who got the great  RCI incentive are reporting VERY limited availibility...and that's being generous.

There are SO many timeshares out there. We didn't buy or DVC for anything other than Disney vacations. Any other trips will always be seperate from our DVC by our own design.

Okay, but to be fair, reading back now about the incentives for the high number of points, and seeing the pictures of the Mickey suite, now THAT appeals! If my DH ever sees those pictures, he will laugh so hard -- that's how I'd decorate our whole house if I could!

We have read about people here having some trouble getting the rooms/times they want...I suspect using RCI as an incentive is a way to lighten the load of the DVC resorts..otherwise, we would have more people trying to book by oct 09 at SSR

Right and also we may all be die hard Disney fans but they may be reaching out to people who like to visit wdw but not every year, reinforcing they can trade out? Tapping into another market? The Disney lovers are going to buy regardless of the incentives if it works for them imo.

For us, that is not true. We want more pts. at BLT but will live without them until we like the incentives or buy resale down the road. :goodvibes

Personally, I wish they'd dump the RCI push. The trades, imho, don't compare in quality to the Disney properties. That's not even talking about the lack of availability. I understand that maybe DVD is trying to reach out to another market. But honestly, with so many timeshares out there, I wouldn't have bought DVC if I wasn't a "Disney-phile".

Price PP discount, dev. points, AP's, FP's, Disney gift card, etc.......and we'd be adding on tomorrow.

Frankly, I think the BEST DVC incentives are price breaks. I can see that being the only REAL incentive needed.

ITA!! We are ready to add on right now, we want another 175 pts. and have been watching resales religiously but ideally we would like our add-on at BLT, so were waiting patiently to see what Disney rolls out next. The cruise was of no interest to us as we are a family of 5 and just really aren't interested in cruises. Developer points would be good, gift cards, AP's, etc.. No interest in RCI or cruises:confused3.

Oh I completly agree. I personally would have thought twice about buying if I did not get an incentive and developer points but I am just wondering what they are thinking? We know the RCI trad outs are not as good but maybe they think they are fooling the uneducated customer?

I can't remember a time when an RCI trade week was the ONLY incentive being offered. It's always been part of a package of incentives. (i.e. Developer's points PLUS cash discount PLUS RCI week.)

If that's the case, I don't get the big outcry. You're never going to have an "all things to all people" incentive. There are people who love the DCL incentive and people who hate it. There are people who love free APs and others who have no use for them. There are people who like and dislike Developer's Points.

The RCI week is no different.

Cash discounts may have universal appeal, but they are never the most economically beneficial incentive. We took the free cruise with our recent add-on and I cannot see any set of circumstances in which DVC would have given us a cash discount equal to the list price of that cruise.

I understand your point, Tim. I really do. I disliked the DCL incentive b/c it wasn't a great incentive for a family of 5 and it had limited sailing date options. However, it was still a Disney incentive. Perhaps you don't understand the outcry but for me it's b/c I don't want anything outside of Disney with my DVC. That's why we bought DVC! I could have chosen plenty of other timeshares. I chose DVC for Disney trips. RCI has nothing we want. Simple as that. If they're going to offer incentives, I just wish they'd ALL be Disney based.

Fair enough. But I do think there is SOME audience for these sorts of incentives. They just aren't right for you.

When it comes to the incentives, the general rule of thumb is that if you don't like the one offered now--wait a couple months and they'll come up with something new. Sometimes that can be hard to do if Disney announces pending price increases or you just happen to get that itch. ;) But change they will!

I have to say the DCL incentive worked its magic on us. We only needed about 60 VGC points to establish the sort of pattern initially envisioned. But 100 started looking pretty attractive when we factored in the $5 discount not available on sub-100 pt add ons and the cruise. Even with the limitations, this cruise will be about $1300 less than the one we took last month. :lmao: (And a better class room, too!)
