Where are the codes?

Anyone want to venture a guess as to why new codes haven't come out yet and when, or if, the next codes will be out?

I would think Disney would be marketing aggresively to counteract lags in consumer confidence due to the sagging economy, a possible war, gas prices, increase in the security threat level, etc. So why aren't those codes out there??? I don't want to pay rack rate for a room but I'm starting to think that may be all we can get...:(

I know this is terrible, but if we have to pay $300.00 for a room at BC, we will cancel & getting a cheaper rate off site.

That's not terrible at all! I will never pay rack rate at any WDW deluxe, or any moderate for that matter, except maybe in value season. For us, especially since we go more than once a year, AP discounts are the only ones I find acceptable.

I know this is driving me nuts!!!!!!!!!!! I check a few times a day to see if any codes have gone up! Last year I used a code and the date was Feb 21 so I am hoping that maybe with the poor economy the deals may be even better this time around. Oh please, please. Keeping my fingers crossed!:bounce:

I think with the threat of a war, it's a wait and see situation.

Disney knows what they are doing.

Frankiemom,

I'm feeling your pain. Hubby and I just returned from 4 days in Colorado skiing. Just the break I got from my code search obsession was wonderful. But here I am second day home and I've been on line obsessing for 2 hours already this morning....

Disney, please put me out of my misery!!! :D

that so many book rack rate, hoping to get a code at a later date, that Disney has no need to offer a discount? I mean, why offer an incentive to get us there if they've already got us?
I will not book anything until I have a good rate, even if that means going offsite.

I have often wondered the same thing.
I have thought about reserving a room for our Dec trip at the CR and then waited on codes.
Then I decided against it for that very reason.
Anyone else feel it might not be a good idea to book at rack rates?

I too have wondered about that. But, May is typically a slower month at Disney. This is our second trip during the month of May. Our first being in 2001 and I can truly say that through all my research, I haven't seen one year where codes or AP rates were NOT offered for May.

I'm beginning to wonder myself if Disney feels they already have us at the rate we have secured now. But I'll tell you what, if we hadn't already gotten a 15% AAA discount I would cancel and go somewhere else. With the economy taking a downslide like it is you would think they would lower prices or offer even better discounts to guarantee business. Do you think all this threat of war has something to do with them keeping mum about any other discounts? I mean aren't the May discounts already late?

I'm feeling the same way. I have my reservation sheet from last year and I had my June discount booked by the first week in Feb. My dh and I were talking and we too think that Disney is going through a waiting game. Let's see how many we can get without discounts. I will also switch my reservation elsewhere without the codes or the AP rates. I'm feeling the economic crunch already.

Mu husband let me know LOUD & CLEAR, no discounts, no disney vacation. Now that I'm totaly mad at him, he likes to stay at the deluxe resorts but wants to pay moderate prices. I kind of agree with him. We do stay at the deluxes, but we SPEND ALOT, as does everyone else, at all the disney restauants, gift shops and everything else disney has to offer. I feel that if disney does release the codes, we all win, us and disney. They give us a cheaper rate and the money we save (and then some) goes to disney anyway. I just hate this waiting game we play everytime we plan a trip to disney. I know I shouldn't book a room, unless I can afford it without the discounts, but I'm afraid that if I wait for the discounts to come in, there won't be any rooms left at the resort of my choice. Just venting......

I'm totally with you! I keep agonizing over when the codes will come out. We really need to save money on the honeymoon but we still want to stay somewhere really wonderful.
Thankfully my travel agent knows that I'm waiting for codes, so she's not getting a full payment yet.

The CM I talked to this morning also thought that they were slow coming out with AP rates. She was surprised that nothing was being offered yet.

Let's just keep our fingers crossed.

I too am anxiously waiting for a code, but have grown somewhat unenthused about watching for them as much since it has been so long. I went on and booked CSR at a DC rate in fear that I wouldn't get at least one room I wanted. If a good AP code or any code for that matter comes out soon, I will try to move to the AKL.

PLEASE DISNEY GIVE US A CODE!!!:) That is all I ask for!!haha:)

Good luck to everyone else that are waiting. Its really been a journey thus far.

As an ex-cast member with WDW Advertising in Orlando, I can guarantee you one thing. You guys are on the right track. If enough people book at the rack rate they will not offer the codes, or at the very least it will take longer for the codes to come out. Not just the codes, but the AP discounts and the special direct mail postcard offers. I don't book until the codes come out for that reason. Not that one booking will make the difference.

Anyway - bring on the codes!!!!!!!!!

Well, I book the hotel I will pay full price for and wait for discounts. I'm going no matter what!!!

I can tell you that in 2000 and 2001, the AP discounts did not come out until March. In 2000, it was March 24th - and they went fast.

And in 2000, the hotels were crowded. I remember people posting and saying that they couldn't get rooms - esp. at Cont. because of the conferences. But the AP discounts came anyway.

I think Disney is playing the waiting game. And don't forget, last year was a really bad year because of 9/11 and that may be why the discounts came out so early.

I tend to agree with you Anna. I think they'll have ap rates or codes, but I think they will be later

Actually, this is the first time in I don't know how many years that I don't already have a room booked! I was hoping not to add to the number of rooms booked at rack rate, plus I've been waiting for a discount!!!

It's true that in the past the AP rates didn't come out until March, and last year was an exception. This is pure torture having to wait. I would just like to have all my ducks in a row!:teeth:

We aren't going until 2004, but I like to forcast our trips based on previous years codes. Last year I had everything booked in Jan for April trip. I hope codes come out soon for all the folks going this year! S
