Where are the Cheap Disney Pins coming from?

I've noticed on EBAY people listing 10 or 20 pins in a lot but only selling them for $20 - 30 when the auction closes. Obviously they are making a profit, but where are they buying these pins from? The individual Disney Stores don't sell them. The Disney Outlets that I've seen sell discount pins, but at $3 - 4. (Plus you have to pay tax.) The online Disney Store sells them, but still in the $4 and up range.

Any ideas?

TDS's used to see pins for trading. About a year ago they discontinued pins. Pins went on sale for as little as $.65 each.
I grabbed about 20 for trading, but I know some people who bought in the 100's. I bet most of these pins are from TDS.

We bought almost 200..but we traded them for much nicer pins at DW. Most all the cheap pins sold on Disney are DS pins. Some CM's buy cheap pins at DW at the CM's store, and those too, are very cheap..and they resell them.

We usually buy a handful of pins off ebay before each trip for DS to trade. I can usually pick them up for the $3- range w/ shipping. I have been looking like crazy-- and it's not going to happen this trip. I can't seem to get my hands on anything for under $5- with shipping.

I couldn't seem to find "cheap pins" either. I have searched the web and found some inexpensive ones but really none under $3 w/o shipping.

The Disney Store sold out of it's pins nationwide last year.... I can't see how anyone has any of those pins left, purchased at 50 cents each, etc... So in order to sell pins at a profit, I just don't get how they are doing it? Is there a wholesaler somewhere? Plus, Disney CM's are not allowed to buy or sell Disney Merchandise on Ebay... grounds to be fired from what I understand. I can't believe someone would risk their job to buy something from Company D and resell online... (I sound naive, don't I?):p

Try going to www.cheappins.com They are great if you are looking for some! We too bought tons of the clearance DS pins and have used them for traders since we bought them. Last week while cleaning out a closet I found an huge bag of DS pins that I had purchased for next to nothing and stuck them away for a trip and forgot about them. So it can happen..lol

WE got $1.99 Disney trading pins at the Character Corner in Orlando at this discount mall

Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores
State Road 535
Near Walt Disney World Resort

but when I went there the last 2 trips their lowest priced pins were all $3.99 + tax. So, you see my confusion! $1.99 would be GREAT! But with all of these people selling their pins, you'd think by now the el cheapos would be exhausted! I guess we'll find out as the year wears on.. because unless someone is just doing housekeeping and wants to get rid of them, they can't sell these for a loss on Ebay. That would be silly!

I have also noticed, the same old pins going round and round when you look at different CM's lanyards. There has got to be a point where WDW has to replace some of these DS pins with something new or people will lose interest.
