Where are the best buildings at Old Key West?

Which buildings should we request at Old Key West? We would like something with out a ton of walking after a long day at the parks. Something close to the restaurants, busses etc. Or something near the sandcastle pool would be fun too. Thanks for your help!

The extreme distances of the villas from the hub of OKW are, IMHO, simply extremely overstated unless someone in your party has serious trouble with mobility. I have stayed at OKW many times (we are DVC members), including one stay at a villa that surely was as far away from the main pool, etc. as possible. It was a 10 minute walk. Very pleasant. If you really want to be as close as possible to the main pool, ask for Hospitality House area. However, we prefer the SouthPoint area to be close to the walking path along the golf course to Saratoga and Downtown Disney. OKW has several quiet pools that are lovely and sometimes a nicer place to relax than the themed pool. I do like to request top floor for better views and you can also request water or golf views, close to bus stop, etc. That said, I rarely get my specific requests but always love staying at OKW. Have fun!

There's no BAD location, of course, but if your children would enjoy the main pool with the slide and the play area and you expect to spend a lot of time there, ask to be near the Hospitality House. However, we had a great trip with school age children when our villa overlooked the quiet pool in the Millers Road area. We sat on our balcony and watched the kids play below (don't worry...they were old enough to swim alone although they spent more time out of the pool than in it).

We loved the Turtle Crawl area. It was quieter and the kids could play and not be run over by older kids. Plus we were really close to the Turtle Shack for snacks.

I always liked Turtle Pond Road. It's not close to the main area but I always had a rental car.

DVC is now specificially reserving the buildings closest to the main building (11-14, 23-26). I don't know if that's available through CRO.

I have looked for a Pic that shows the pools at OKW.. and have found none WITH a water slide.. SO there is One ??

The main pool added a water slide that has been a big hit with kids. It is a pretty big sand castle themed slide. Maybe someone has pics to post.

We stayed at buliding 13 in Sept and it ws just across the street from everything (Olivia's, main pool, registration house). We really enjoyed this location!

No need to request a specific building. Just state your preferences as you've done in this post. That tells the room assigners what is important to you which gives them a better chance at satisfying your needs. If you only state a building number, then the room assigner has no way of knowing why you specified that building.
