My name is Sandra and this is my FIRST ever Disney vacation of any sort! Can you tell I am little excited??? It is exactly 19 days til we set sail on DCL Magic.
I'll introduce you to the characters. DH- Andy (avid cruiser, Disney naysayer), DS Connor- 10, DD Dana 7 1/2 (she'd want me to say that
)and DS Noah-6. And also included is the Poppa and the Grandma (my parents). Oh and Zoey, the American Girl Doll!
To say I have always wanted to do a Disney vacay is an understatement. But DH always hummed and haaed. DH and I have been on numerous cruises (RCCL, Carnival and NCL) together and apart. Never have we taken our children on a vacation away from Canada. According to our kids, the two summer months off from school they spend touring Georgian Bay on our beautiful 35' Princess boat (this year, excitedly it's a 45' Sea Ray!!), is not a vacation as they don't get to miss school, nor do they get to take a plane!! So yes, in their eyes, this is their first official vacation. However, they have no idea they are about to be MAGICally whisked away on a 7 day Caribbean cruise
They do know they are going to Florida, they are going to Sea World, the Sea Ray plant and they really REALLY want to at least LOOK at a cruise ship, just so they can see what one looks like in person. "No problem", we say!
When DH and I first started looking into cruises for the kids, we were tossing up the two main players, RCCL and DCL. I researched both, and of course came up, hands down with DCL. Called our travel agent and voila, in July 2011, our course was set and we were booked two verandah rooms on the Magic. But wait, another surprise awaits the Poppa and the Grandma! They have never been on a cruise either. The poppa said he wanted to do things up right, and get a verandah room beside ours, but not to tell the Grandma. Done and Done! And that made things easier for me as I now had a place to put our third child, instead of renting a family stateroom. Poor Grandma, she is just hoping that she can come use our balcony from time to time. Of course you can Grandma
So everything was put in my name and the Grandma is none the wiser!
So I have kept these secrets all to myself and I am about to burst with excitement with the wanting to tell my kids that they in fact are not only going to be seeing a cruise ship, but living on one for a week!! But I have to wait to tell them until the morning of the 28th, when they look at the lovely Magic and I quietly ask if they can see THEIR staterooms??
So for now we have 4 blue suitcases and a pink (but of course, what other colour is there??) one sitting in our living room where our Christmas tree once stood, open and everyday getting heavier and heavier. Oh and of course, a little red backpack fit for a traveling American Girl doll.
