When you search for your real name on the web, do you find anything?

The first thing that comes up is my facebook page then there are a few random things that aren't me, like someone with my name works for Radio Australia and a few other random things. A honeymoon registry from when DH & I got married over a year ago shows up and someone with my name works for a Catholic school and that shows up. Nothing too exciting

Almost nothing, which is how I want it. I prefer to be as close to web-dead as I can get.

I see nothing, not even my face book account, but that is set to strict privacy settings. My home number is unlisted and I am pretty careful about keeping the real me separate from my internet identity.

Just curious, is everything ok? I remember finding myself on Zabasearch when it first came out but a few letters pleading to be taken off due to a stalker when I was young (:scared1:yeah it was a scary mess:scared1:) lead to my & my DH's removal from the site and I have not had an issue since.

Everything is OK, I just thought this could be a good thread. When I search for my name, I get my LinkedIn account as well as some of the papers/presentation I have done. I also pop-up on my PhD advisors webpage.

The only thing I ever found was that in July of 1746, I was indicted in a London court for the theft of one cotton gown

I get linked to my work's home page. There's a blurb about me on there. It's very uninteresting.

I am the only person in the US with my name and yes, if you Googled my real name, you would find me. I used to publish quite a bit and was also the subject of a few articles.

::yes::

Most if it was very old stuff, but one listing was very current.

But I found a linkedin (?) page for someone else with my same name--I really thought that I was the only one with my name!

I have published an article and presented at a few academic conferences, so that stuff comes up. also, my Facebook page.

I'm the only person with my name so what you get when you google is me. I've published a bunch of academic articles and have presented at conferences, so that's mostly what you get.

I'm glad this came up, because I googled DS14's name (extremely unusual, I'm sure he's the only one in the US) and wasn't happy when his Amazon account came up. Now I have to go into Amazon and figure out how to block that. Any ideas?

Thanks!
Terri

A whole bunch of people that have the same name - but nothing for me (which is how I like it :thumbsup2)...:goodvibes

On Pipl.com I have to put in my name AND city/state to find something. That's my childhood address -- nothing recent at all. That's it, no Facebook, MySpace or anything.

On google, I found just my MySpace page, but I'm okay with that because I have nothing personal there.

I'm pretty happy with my level of anonymity. Even when I look up my screen names, there are so many other people with those names that I blend in with them. Except on the DIS. :rolleyes1

Depending on which list you check, my married last name is either the seventh or eighth most common name in the US. If I google FullFirstName MarriedLastName I am obscure, but professionally I use a different combination of my names anyway.
