I rarely order a hamburger, but yesterday I really wanted one and the menu had mushroom/swiss, my fav. When it got to the table it had pickles and mustard on it . Why would the restaurant put mustard, but not ketchup? I can't stand pickles (which 99% of places place on the side so you don't get the dreaded pickle juice on your food) and I like mustard, but Guldens on hot dgos, I hate the yellow stuff, especially on my burger.

So how do you expect your burger to be delivered?

I order mustard, pickle and onion. I receive ketchup, mayonnaise and cheese.

I really need to work on my diction.

Make mine ketchup, pickles, and cheese only!!

I hate mayonnaise, and if I even smell mustard, I'll gag!!

I like mine plain and that is how I order it.

That's actually what I usually do too and then just ask for ketchup to put on myself. I hate when they use the same utensils to put ketchup on the burgers that they use to put mustard on there. Um, I can still taste it!!! Don't know what it is about mustard, but I'm extremely sensitive to it.

I am that way with pickles, that juice is still there, even if you pick the pickles off.

On the rare occasion that I get a burger from McD's, I actually like the mustard, catsup and pickle on top of the burger - yet I never think to do it when I make burgers at home.. :confused3

The mushroom and swiss sounds yummy! Now that I would NOT want the extras put on - but rather on the side - and I would probably skip the mustard and eat the pickles separately..

I love mushroom swiss burgers, too! If I was to order one, I'd figure it'd come with mushrooms and swiss, with tomatoes, lettuce and pickles on the side. Ketchup would be at the table for me to add on my own.

I can totally relate - except I LOVE pickles. But, I feel that same way about tomatoes - yuk!! tomato seeds and juice are still there!!

I don't understand why they would put mustard and pickles on a swiss and mushroom burger unless they brought the wrong burger. I was taught to pick things off if I didn't want them, so the only thing that I will ask for to NOT be placed on my burger is mayo. I HATE it and will send an item back if it's on it. I can pick off the pickles and tomatoes and deal with the juice, but I will not stand for mayo.

Do you think I like mayo ;)

Aside from fast food, I think mayo is the only condiment that's ever been put on a hamburger when I've ordered one. I HATE mayo and specifically state that when I order it just to be sure it's not put on. One time a waitress at Denny's didn't write our order down (was me and 2 girlfriends) saying she could remember it all in her head. We were impressed and her tip just shot up to the 50% range. That is, till our food was delivered and everything was wrong, including mayo on my burger. I sent it back because I just can't eat that.

I like yellow American cheese on a burger, white will not do, and I don't care for swiss. Other than that, I don't want the kitchen putting anything else on my burger. At the table, I'll always use ketchup, and once in awhile a bit of mustard. I want pickle, but I want it on the side. I normally eat it, but not on the burger. And, you can't have a burger without a good order of fries to go with it.

It really depends upon the restaurant. Most fast food restaurants will put mustard, pickles, lettuce, and onions.

It is only when you go to more of a sit-down type restaurant will you get the lettuce, pickles, and onions on the side.

Then, once you get to a more "upscale" burger place, they will then begin to ask how you want your meat cooked.

Me, personally, I like mayo, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and ketchup.

I have one son that wants his plain with ketchup only. And the other son plain with mustard and pickles.

I don't understand why they put so much on a mushroom / swiss burger. Also one of my favs but it has to have no dressing an certianly no veggies. Burger King had a mushroom / swiss burger for awhile and I had to specify that I wanted the no mayo, tomato & lettuce. If I asked for just the cheese and mushrooms they go confused..

I want the meat rare...I know it isn't supposed to be safe but I've never gotten sick...mayo, ketchup, mustard, tomato, onion, and pickles...cheese as long as it is real cheese, not some nasty fako product...also love guacamole, but w/ guac I only want cheese, onion, and tomato. I also like to salt each bite. Just wondering...all those that said they didn't like mayo...I thought I HATED mayo until I was in my teens...then realized that my mom always bought Miracle Whip which I loathe to this day...I thought that was mayo ! I adore the real stuff.

I expect my hamburger/cheeseburger to come without condiments unless the menu says otherwise.

I would expect my server to ask me what I wanted if the kitchen just puts the condiments on the burger.

My favorite is the Whiskey River BBQ Burger from Red Robin. It has BBQ sauce and onion straws on it. :cloud9: Generally speaking, I like just cheese, lettuce, onion and maybe mayo on my burger. And I like to dip it in ketchup. I can't have ketchup on the burger though. Yum burgers.

On a mushroom-swiss burger, I want nothing added....

However, on a regular burger, give me cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo....

No onions! No onions! No onions!

You can remove them, but you can still taste them. I can't count many times I have sent a sandwich back because I asked for it with no onions, and you guessed it...onions! And they think I am an idiot, because they just bring it back after pulling the onions off. Ummmm...if that is what I wanted, I could have saved myself the trouble of speaking the two words...No ONION!

Okay....I am done ranting...haha

We're just the opposite. I can eat Miracle Whip in tuna salad, egg salad, and deviled eggs, ham salad, and chicken salad. Other than that though, I hate even Miracle Whip on anything else. If it's got mayo in it, I just will not eat it.

My daughter loves Miracle Whip and will eat it on just about anything, but the times hubby bought (I would never) mayo, my daughter hated it every time and downright refused to eat. He learned his lesson and won't buy it anytime soon! LOL

My son is like me, but he actually prefers mustard to ketchup. I do too on cold cuts, but not burgers.

Hubby will eat ANYTHING!

You and me both. I detest onions. And if onions we on the burger at one time or another, I want a new burger.
