associated with your dh, dw or so????? Today our university held it's 3rd annual Operating Staff Appreciation lunch (this is for civil service staff which are not faculty or staff positions). Not too long before we needed to leave to come back to our office (the 4 secretaries in my office went together) some people came and sat next to us. One of them was the Associate Vice Provost of Student Affairs (which is the office we report to) and the new Dean of the College of Education and a known man in town who is in our General Counsel office. I had not met the latter two and so the AVP introduced me. The Dean said - the only Peddle I know is Mike. Is that your husband? And I'm like, yes - that's my husband. And then the GC guy said oooohhhh...Mike is your husband. And I laughed and said yes. This is typical in this town because he does alot of work for the university on various grants and also has done some work for the city and the school district and at one time the GC was president of the school board and had alot of dealings with Mike regarding TIF districts, etc.

So I come back here and email dh and tell him who I met and then thought this could be an interesting post....

So are you associated with a member of your family and someone that meets you brings up or asks if you are related to ........? Does make for interesting conversation!!!!! LOL

Some people don't know me, but they look at me like they recognize me if I'm alone. If I have my kids with me or I mention their name-they associate me as being Sara's mom or Dakota's mom.

At work a lot of the waitstaff (who i do not really interact with) know me because of my dad. My dad is their boss so i'm known as the boss's daughter and not Norah.
But with the managers and stuff they know me well.

I don't have a SO, but at school, I ALWAYS get associated with my older brother by teachers...he is 7 1/2 years older than me, but they still remember him. The first day of school, at least 1/2 my teachers always ask, "Oh, is Doug your older brother?" and then they follow that up by asking, "How are him and Chenin doing?" (Chenin was his high school girlfriend who is now my sister-in-law.) I don't usually have a problem with it, unless the teachers turn out to be like one last year who wanted me to be exactly like my brother, and when I wasn't, got all upset.

<font color=navy>I'm sure that when the rascals are older, I'll be known as Nick/Kelly's mom.

In high school, I was involved in so many things that my dad & brother used to joke that they were going to officially change their names to Mary Jo's dad and Mary Jo's brother :p

I am Cam's mom, Bob's little sister ( the other 2 dont really have people that would not me) Anne's Daughter, James wife, but the big one was when my dad was alive ( and some still ) Nels' daughter EVERYONE knew my dad lol.

When do I get to be ME??????????????????????

LOL

YES I know EXACTLY what you mean!

Between my DH and his big Italian/Irish family and my big Irish family I hardly meet anyone from my area that does not ask if I am related to so and so.

Yep, all my life I've been asked, "Are you a Tarantino?"

It comes with the territory of having 8 siblings. :)
