When you load your dishwasher

Never rinse anything; everything goes in except Tupperware and aluminum fry pans; but must be loaded correctly (ie "my way") and must use Cascade dishwashing soap. Everything comes out clean!:goodvibes

The only things we rinse are dishes with egg or cheese on them. The DW is new, but old habits die hard (I had an ancient model for years-just wouldn't die)

Oh, yeah, I am really bad about that. I view the dishwasher as more of a sanitizer than a washer. My dishes are pretty clean when they go in
That is me, but I don't think I am bad about it because my dishwasher is really bad and it doesn't actually wash the dishes. My standards of clean are a lot lower then most peoples too. :rotfl: We plan to re do the kitchen in the spring and get a new one then. For now the dishwasher isn't installed and it doesn't work very well.

When DH does dishes and doesn't clean them 1st it isn't pretty. :rolleyes1

We run the rinse cycle every day except when the washer is full, then the wash cycle of course.

I rarely put pots or pans in because they take up so much room. I never put my good china or crystal in.

We don't rinse the dishes first. When the washer was installed I asked the installer if he had any advice about the washer. He said "Do not rinse the dishes before putting them in the washer."

We vacation with another couple. They wash the dishes in hot soapy water, rinse them, and then load them into the washer.

Our dishwasher (new with the house) is just over a year old and I don't think it washes any better than any we've ever had. Like others said, some things just won't come off unless you wash them first.

Some of you might remember 'Gallagher' of watermelon smashing fame... He once said all dishwashers do is make your dishes hot. You either have to wash them before you put them in or after you take them out. There's some truth to that.

I always rinse really thouroughly. It's funny when my DMIL came over she opened the dishwasher and thought it was a clean load but they hadn't actually run through. With just DH, myself and an 8 month old we don't really need to run the dishwasher everyday. If I don't rinse really well it sort of smells every time you open the dishwasher door unless things are rinsed.

I have a fabulous dishwasher. It's a Bosch, and the first time I put one of my Revere Ware copper bottom pots in it, it came out gleaming copper - it had cleaned all of the gunk from the copper!!! I have never rinsed a dish since!! It's a great dishwasher - so quiet and so powerful.

I might have the occasional piece of macaroni stick to a plate, but I can flick it off with my finger and put it back in. That only happens when DD has loaded the dishwasher and forgotten to scrape the actual food from the plate!!!

Love, love, love my dishwasher!!!!

I am keeping this in mind when we get a new one. Not only is ours bad, but it is nosiy too.

No rinsing here, just get off the major chunks of food (but the dogs usually do that anyway!) I AM anal about the way the dishes are loaded, though. If I find a bowl in the bottom drawer, all heck is gonna break loose! :rotfl:
Our dishwasher works well but when we redo the kitchen I am going to look at the Bosch too. It sounds great!

Luckily for me, when I bought the house I had budgeted for a nice mid level new dishwasher (I wanted to start with all new appliances.) But the inspection showed that both the dishwasher and the microwave weren't working, so they gave me an additional $500 credit and I spent it all on the dishwasher!!! I really like it - it's very quiet and very efficient.

Please, if I ever eat dinner at any of you "rinsers" houses, please do not do the dishes until I leave!!;) My mother "rinses" her dishes with hot soapy water and a DISH RAG to boot, and then puts them in the dishwasher! I can't be in the same room when she is doing this!! Like someone else said, just wash the dishes by hand if they are THAT clean going into the dishwasher!! My SIL and I always have to either clean up by ourselves or leave the kitchen when we have dinner at my parents' house!

Heck, it says right in the dishwasher manual "Do not rinse dishes before loading"!! But there is no convincing my mother!! I even asked her if she didn't want to leave any clean water on the planet for her grandchildren, and she said "I didn't know there was a water shortage"!

I dont rinse-I figure if they come out of the dishwasher and are still dirty because I didnt rinse, I will wash them then--I am not doing any work unless I must. I-ll let the dishwasher have first crack at it.;)

My BIL washes- WASHES- the dishes before he puts then in the dishwasher--with soap and a sponge and everything-why??

My dishwasher is new so it does a great job--my old dishwasher I had to rinse prior.

I usually give everything a quick rinse. I run mine everyday. Mine is fairly new and does a great job. I put pans and everything in my dishwasher. This is my first dishwasher, and I will never again live without one. I use store brand dishwasher soap.

LOL - I feel the same way about the nonrinsers! I had a roommate once that didn't rinse and it always seemed like gunk would float up off the plates and adhere to the glasses. Yuck!

I wear my jeans more than once if that makes me seem more environmentally friendly.;)

DH practically scrubs the dishes clean before loading them in - but he's beyond anal about anything cleaning related.

Me? I shove them in there without much more than a rinse and pray they get clean so I don't have to listen to DH whine about it!

Yes, bonus points for re-wearing your jeans!!

Gunk on glasses is very yucky!! I wouldn't stand for that! Most dishwashers do not do that. Well, at least if you have taken the time to scrape the large scraps off the plate!! I may not be a rinser but I *am* a scraper!!! Also, an occasional bit of food on the dishes doesn't bother me--I figure it got sanitized in the dishwasher, so I just flick it off and go on!!
