How much do you rinse your dishes off first.. if at all? I clean mine thoroughly because I'm always skeeved that something is going to harden to the dishes or silverware :scared: . Although I don't think I even rinsed them when I was a teen and my mom would make me do the dishes :rotfl:

What's your dishwasher routine :rolleyes1

I hardly ever rinse 1st, & my pet peeve is the way they get loaded, they must be loaded back to front, so I dont have to reach over dirty dishes to load more dirty dishes...though, since Im the only one who loads the dishes in my house I guess thats irrelevant:rolleyes: ;)

I'm kinda anal, I rinse well, then, if they're going to sit for a while I run the quick rinse cycle. The nastiest thing I found was about a week ago, I ran the quick rinse then forgot to wash, they sat for a day, yucky smell!

I do not rinse. I only run our dishwasher every other day or so, and I don't have to rewash dishes too often because of "stuck on" food.

My feeling is that if you are going to rinse, then just go ahead and wash the dish and don't waste the water.

I also am pretty anal about what goes where in a dishwasher. Kind of stupid on my part.

Also, we don't put our flatware or pots and pans in the dishwasher. I don't think that either holds up well to dishwashing. But I could be wrong about that... :confused3

Oh, yeah, I am really bad about that. I view the dishwasher as more of a sanitizer than a washer. My dishes are pretty clean when they go in

I rinse the dishes before I put them in the dishwasher. As if that isn't bad enough, I have to rinse the dishes in running water because I can't abide putting my hands in dirty dish water. :scared: DMom still hollers at me because of that. :rotfl:

Also everything has its own place in the dishwasher, and nobody better mess with it. The plates go here, the bowls go here, and if the coffee mugs are not totally separate from the glasses, you'd better watch out. :teeth:

I have to rinse well or else the dishes don't get clean. I can't wait to kiss this dishwasher goodbye!

Unless there's major "chunks" it all just gets loaded in. I only run it ever couple of days, but will run the quick rinse cycle in between if it's getting funky in there. Still uses less water than rinsing in the sink.

Todays dishwashers are much better than the older models and as long as you've got a middle of the line or above, rinsing isn't really needed.

Yep. That's me - hardly rinse them at all - our dishwasher is new and it chops up any leftover chunks really well - and the dishes almost always come out really clean.:)

You've got THAT right! ::yes:: :teeth:

And it looks like I am in the definate minority on the NOT rinsing. I'm different. Now THERE's a huge surprise. :rolleyes2

I also subscribe to the everything has it's place philosophy, I'm so bad that I even have certain ways that the flatware goes in. Lately, my problem has been Peanut Butter, if it ain't rinsed off, unless I use the pots & pans cycle the PB is still on the knife when it comes out! :confused3 It's a new dishwasher too! I paid a pretty penny for it, it's a whirlpool, you'd think they'd work better.

Same here! I don't rinse the dishes either before putting them in the dishwasher. And I also agree with BethR - if you are going to rinse them, you might as well wash them.

With just me and DW in the house we only run the dishwasher a couple of times a week, so I rinse pretty thoroughly. We had an old dishwasher for a long time that didn't do a very good job, so we just got into the habit of cleaning them before we put them in the dishwasher.:)

We have an old dishwasher and have to rinse really well, or they won't get clean. Hate the dishwasher, but at least I don't pay for the water I'm wasting...

Never rinse anything even pans, never have a problem everything comes out clean. Don't care where anything goes as long as it fits.

I thought the DIS was full of "save the environment" worry about recycling folks and I see all these rinsers- talk about wasting resources, it is not needed and a huge waste of water.(probable energy too because I'm sure you are using hot water)

I never rinse my dirty dishes. Thank Goodness for my dishwasher!
