Automatically feel responsible to help that person???

This happened to me twice in two days!!!!!
First at a b-day party (my DS' classmate), a mom mentioned that she is taking her daughter who hasn't been since she was two. After talking to me they are staying at AKL with a FL resident rate (she didn't know there was an AKL or FL res. rates!)

Yesterday- I was at my mom's and her DH took my DS next door to play with the neighbor , who is a little boy the same age. He lives with his mom and grandparents. They were packing up to leave for WDW! When I went to pick him up , I found out (to my relief ) that they were staying at the CR with a FL resident rate. She told me she hadn' been to WDW in 18 years! As a matter of fact, her plan was to stay at motel six or something and she called Disney and was given a rate for the AS and then (since her parents were paying half) she asked about the Contemporary (the only Disney hotel that most FL residents remember). Her mom gave her the thumbs up and she booked it! How exiting for their first onsite stay!!! They didn't even know that Disney had other hotels. When I asked her what park they would be visiting, she said, "just Disneyworld". I basically had to give her the short version of my "fast-track" course. Long sigh....... There is so much work for us Disney Educators!

Oh YES!!!!! I find myself in a lot of 2 hour WDW talks with complete strangers. If I hear the word DIsney I'm hooked into the conversation.

i also feel compelled to help in the planning and like to point them in the right direction...at work, when someone finds out someone else is going to the world, they are referred to me for information...maybe i should get a job as a travel agent....

I don't necessarily feel responsible but I must say that whenever anyone plans a trip, they always come to me for advice :p

I absolutely always put my 2 cents in.....(or 3, or 4, or 5) After learning so much on these boards, I feel almost responsible for telling people about some great tips they may never have heard about. When my cousin told me he was visiting WDW for the first time with his family last year, I guided him to these boards and he was instantly hooked. Originally he was staying at the CBR but with all he learned here he was able to upgrade to AKL for minimal cost! I always encourage people to make PS for there favorite dinners. By no means am I an expert but learning all I have on these boards I have discovered that I am more informed than 90% of the population!!!! HEE HEE!!!!

Let's just say that my nickname at work is "Walt" ...... enough said:teeth:

Yip! :)

All the time. Whether they have solicited my help or not. :) Lol! :)

It really can make a difference though. I wish someone had filled me in all the secrets etc. before my first visit (okay I was 11 but hey, you know what I mean ;) ). You can miss out on so many things and save so much time by doing things a certain way etc.

In my opinion, the biggest mistake first timers make is to get to a park, pick up a map and then spend 45 mins deciding what to do, by which time everyone else has made a bee-line to where they are headed and the line is then 45 mins long.

Look at me! I'm doing it again. :)

Do you think there is a support group for this? :)

Ona ;)

Me too. I have tried to sit and say nothing. When I listen to people talk and hear what they are saying I have to say something. Most of the time they never know that. I refer them to this site and mousesavers where they can learn and save.

I love to learn that people are going to WDW!! I get so excited for them, and it gives me a chance to reminisce, share our wonderful memories and experiences, and provide all sorts of information and fun recommendations. If family and friends are going to Disney World, my husband says that I am the person to see. I've even printed out info for them to take with them. I wish everyone could have the experiences that we've had there!

I too, try and stay quiet, but I really can't help myself chiming into conversations about where and when to go, how much to pay, etc. I have to admit. My name is Katie and I am a Disney-aholic. It is a problem, but I must say, a rather fun one!

Oh yeah, the people at my work call me the Disney lady and people that know me are always referring people to come talk to me when they hear they are planning a trip.

Sometimes I'll start conversations with strangers when I hear Disney mentioned. It drives my teenage DS crazy. He will say to his Dad "Oh no, Mom's got her Disney Vision locked on!". :p

Of course I feel compelled to chime in! Why do you think I am the Campus Rep. for the WDW College Program at school....so I can talk about Disney! But here's a heartbreaker for ya.......

Yesterday in my math class a woman asks me about what I do for the WDW College Program. After I explain it to her, she asks, isnt Disney just for kids? GASP! Then she says, I thought it was just puppets and things like that. As you can tell I almost had a heart attack! I explained there were 4 parks, she looked at me like I was crazy. "Four parks she said?" "My dd ould love this" shesays. So I told her about staying onsite and having the transportation (she has little ones) and she says, "Well is it close enough that we can walk to things?" Then I told her it is either bigger than the Island of Manhattan or the same size (Can't remeber which, 45 sq. miles right?) Poor, poor uninformed woman!!

Automatically feel responsible to help that person???

No..I don't automatically feel resposible. I just get excited for them. I just tell them that they are going to have a magical time. Then of course...I tell them about our trips that we had. It just makes me want to make a ressies and head back to WDW.

I don't know that I feel like I need to help them but I can't help but engage them in conversation about their trip. My husband says he can't take me anywhere without me finding someone to discuss WDW with :teeth:

I just can't help myself! As soon as I hear that someone is considering a trip to WDW I go into Disney planning mode. At work, my clients refer their employees to me for WDW info. I'm not just their Information Technology professional, I'm their WDW Infomation Technology professional! LOL

Oh yes, definitely. I want to know where they are staying, what passes they are using, which parks they are going to, and of course, I have to tell them the best way to tour, what restaurants are good, and the best way to utilize the fastpasses. Guess it is no different than what I do on these boards!;)

Okay, so I am not alone!!! My DH even comes home from work with "questions" for his friends.

Well, I don't ussually get to offer my help any more. One of two things ussually happens:

1. They are sent to me by someone I have helped in the past or knows that we have gone to WDW and (GASP) PLANNED IT ON OUR OWN!!! So I must know everything ther is to know about taking a WDW vacation....I always tell them that I don't, but I know where to find out!

2. A couple of folks are discussing WDW and ask for my two cents worth and I don't stop untill the meter reads $14.00!

I am hopelessly addicted
