They send them to a gift store or something instead of your room now right? And when they receive your packages, can they hold them for a few days? Or do you have to pick them up immediately? I ask because I think we will be going to DTD our first evening and I would like to get some birthday and christmas gifts then and thought I could send them back to the resort without my daughter seeing, however, I don't want to have to have them sitting in our car the rest of the trip so she won't see them, that doesn't seem safe. Do the resorts have somewhere to keep them?

We were at CBR in July and had some packages sent back to the hotel from DTD. They were sent the next day and picked up at the gift shop. I don't know if they would hold them for any length of time or not.

I doubt they have room to hold peoples stuff long. I'd pick it up and put it in the trunk of your car. Either that or have them shipped home right when you buy them. I've got the same delima, (only no car there) and I'm going to have them ship the birthday/christmas gifts I buy to my parents house since I won't be home.

We stayed at POR last year and had all our packages delivered directly to our hotel room. Had to wait about a day, so I wouldn't request any deliveries if you are about to leave WDW in a day or 2.

I do not think you would have a problem with 2-3 days at the most. I was just at CBR and purchased some items at Downtown Disney. I was told they would call me after 1 the next day and leave a message for me that the packages had arrived. I never did receive a call but went down the gift shop at around 9 that following night and picked them up. I would think they would just call and remind you they were there after a day or two.

You could always have your purchases shipped to your home. We have done that and it works well. If being shipped outside of Fla. there is no sales tax either.

On our last two trips, we had to pick up packages somewhere at the resort. At ASMo it was the front desk and at WL it was at the gift shop. As for storing your stuff, we were able to store some items in a safe room near the front desk at WL. It was kind of time-consuming because there was paperwork to fill out when we put the stuff in and when we went to get it out. I would ask if the same arrangement is available at your resort. If so, check to see if the units they have are going to be large enough. If that doesn't work out, I agree with having everything shipped home or to a friend or family member directly from the shops at DTD. Seems like I've read that having it shipped out of state may save you from having to pay sales tax on it so that may help cover the cost of shipping. Hope this helps.:)

in april at csr our packages were sent to the gift shop. everywhere we shopped said the packages would be delivered within 48hrs, so i suppose some don't even get delivered right away anyway. why not visit the gift shop when you check in to the resort and ask them if this is a problem? they should be able to tell you if they have room to store them:D

When we were at the Grand .. and AKL .. in July, our packages were still delivered to our rooms. That *might* be because we were Main Bldg. concierge at the GF, and had a suite at AKL ..

Last year my DH purchased one of those jumbo Mickey's for me while we were at MGM w/o me knowing. It was to be a surprise for our anniversary. He had it shipped to WL and had them hold it one day till our anniversary day. It was such a surprise for me!!! So yes, your resort may be able to do the same thing.

Good luck!

I would definitely recommend shipping your packages home. The storage available at the gift shops is minimal, and if everyone wanted to store their things for "just a few days" can you imagine the build up of packages. There is no sales tax when shipping outside of Florida, and it comes out pretty much even. We will definitely be going the shipping route this fall, as we will only have but so much room in our luggage, and we are flying.

We also ship to our home from DTD. We go on one of our first days and just go wild in there. We also get the DC discount to make up for the shipping charge. Make sure you tell the CM before they start to ring it up for you to save on the FL sales tax.

I was just at WDW in July so hopefully this info is up to date. ;) You cannot send packages back to your resort the day before you check out. (I mean anyone leaving Disney and going home!) Anywhere I made purchases the CMs said my packages wouldn't be at the gift shop of my resort until 1-3pm the following day. That would make sense since check-out is before noon and I'm sure most us would be trying to catch a plane around then.

Just back - DH bought something at MGM and had it sent to our resort (CBR). It arrived at the gift shop the next day, and we received a phone call on its arrival day. We received phone calls each day (3 total) until DH picked it up from the gift shop.

At CBR in May 2002 our packages were delivered to the gift shop. At All Star Movies in December 2002 our packages were delivered to guest services near the check-in desk. Messages were left on our room phones at each resort and packages arrived the next day after purchase.

Alittle off subject but does anyone know if they will send packages back to the resort from The Toy Store at DTD? Thanks:)

Don't they send packages directly back to the rooms anymore? I was at POR last May and had everything waiting for me in my room.
