When you have a Waitlist...

...do you call to check on it or just keep an eye on the member site?

Do you think you have a better chance of getting a match by calling in or letting the system do it automatically?

There have been mixed reports. Some say that they have had matches when they called, others just let it happen.

IMHO I don't think that the wait list process is administered as well as we think it is, and there is no way to prove it.

We have been on a waitlist for August for almost 6 months now and I did both...call and check member site. But we reach the 30 day mark in 4 more days and we are off the list and the waitlist did not come thru. Oh well, we just weren't one of the lucky ones. So my point is I don't know if it really matters. Good luck!

I've waitlisted in the past. Usually missing a day at the end of my stay & my waitlist has always come threw. I'm waitlisted for 7/6 & 7/7. I was able to get a dedicated 2 bdrm @ SSR on 7/4 & 7/5. I called MS on Wednesday to check my waitlist. Still nothing. So then I asked about 2 (1) bdrm's or 1-1bdrm & a studio. I was able to get the 1-1 bdrm & studio @ SSR for the 6th & 7th. If my waitlist doesn't come threw atleast I've got a room. Good Luck with ur waitlist.

I was on a waitlist for 1 nite at VWL for a dedicated 2 bedroom. I had a dedicated for 5 nites booked and 1 nite in a lock off. I called for a different reservation for Oct. and the guy at MS said you are lucky today your wait list just came through. So maybe I was just lucky. I was only on it for about a week, and it is the weekend of the Marathon, so I am happy I don't have to change rooms.

You can change the wait list to 7 days before your arrival if you want to.

Guess I just wish we knew for certain how the waitlists are filled.

If something cancels, does the computer automatically fill waitlists first or is that an overnight function? I'm thinking if it's an overnight update then the room would be sitting in inventory all day & would be up for grabs by the member who calls & asks for it, right?

I hate to be a pest & clog up the MS phone lines but am thinking that the only real chance of getting that WL filled is to call & see.

Because we can't waitlist day by day, I think DVC has made it so you HAVE to call & fill your waitlist. If you are waitlisted for say 3 nights, unless all 3 nights become available, they won't fill your waitlist. Plus it only takes MS appx 2 minutes to check & see if something is available so I don't think you'd be doing much clogging & I wouldn't worry about it.

I have found that I've been able to fill my waitlist at BLT for NYE week, by calling day by day. I now have every day filled except NYE night, but every time I call I get a "no nothing has become available at all at WDW on points for December 31st" so I'm not going to bother calling for that every day. I might check once a week just to see, but I think my chances are slim at this point anyway.

I have been calling, simply because I can't WL all the options. I currently have a WL for BLT, studio, LV for either August 5th/6th or 7th/8th. Since I can't also put in for the SV or MK view, for either of those times, I call daily just to check.

I was also willing to take a room at BWV (we had AKV but that was not what I really wanted) so I called about those options as well. On Monday, I was able to switch from AKV to BWV so at least if BLT doesn't come through, I will be at my next choice.

So, if there are options, other than just your WL, calling can help.
