when you go to crops....

Well Lisa is at work now but I will send her an e-mail to pop back in. I don't think she can DIS at work. Darn employers, they just don't get what's important! :rotfl2:

Brewster must be where it is. I've only been once, all I remember was a rotary but that could be anywhere in MA. LOL

I sneak my dissing in during the processing. These computers don't do well doing 2 things in the same cluster.
AHHH that lovely rotory !!! I hate that one.

If you ever have layouts or pages that you'd be willing to share I'd love to see them. I loved the pictures of your corner right know all of mine has to stay in all the bags as my spare room does triple duty.

I've cropped both ways - with all my stuff and with power layouts. Power layouts are great, especially for shorter crops. I have the Creative Memories power layout box but have also used the large ziploc bags and even 12x12 divided accordian folders.

To get organized first I pick the group of pictures I plan to do a spread or even several pages of. For example, let's pretend I'm doing Kiliminjaro Safari pages. I have special animal print paper I plan to use so I put that with the pictures in the bag or section in the folder or even in a top loading page protector (be careful with these because the embellishments can sometimes fall out if you are not careful. Perhaps I'll mount the pictures on brown paper so I add a sheet of that to the section. Then I add my animal stickers and that perfect zebra ribbon that I picked up with that page in mind. One page kit ready to go in no time at all!

I also take my embellishment box which contains all of my brads and eyelets and basic ribbon colors and a small assortment of solid paper just in case. I did this with my 1500 pictures I took from my last Disney vacation and completed over 90 pages in a weekend!

For me the key is to not overthink the page and use what I have already designated in my page kit with as few additions as possible. I also keep an ongoing notebook where I write the title that I want to cut from my Cricut with size I need, font and color paper and then sit down and cut all my titles at once. I also do my journaling at a later date which seems to help cut the time down as well. I hope this helps someone.

That actaully makes sense. and i guess I do a modified version of that I know which folder x paper is in so I can go right to that once I pull out those pictures. I sort all the papers just never seem to sort the pictures to go with it. All my pictures are in cronological order so I move from halloween to thanksgiving to DS's birthday to xmas. Since I've taken the time to organize paper I can grab that pretty fast and the stickers are in a like order ie camping, outdoor hunting/fishing, holiday.
I too learned that the journaling is much easier to leave for home.
I'm learning slowly

thank you all!!!

I'm going to snap pics of the dogs album tonight so I'll post link here. I use Becky Higgins' Sketch books a lot too. I also use sketches on line. If I know I have 10 pics on for a 2 page layout, I look in my binder of sketches under 10-14 pics, then I pic out the layout that suits the pics best. When I started taking pics ll of them are landscape, so layouts are tough. But I turn a lot of the sketches on their sides to get the look I need.

While I'm waiting to do the dogs book, some random pages I already have in photobucket:
I don't post a lot of pics of the kids so this is rare!

Brewster is indeed on the Cape my great uncle used to have "fat girls camp" at least that's what dad called it i don't even know what type of camp it really was.
hopefully Lisa will chime in with the info. I think it would be a wonderful time to see so many peoples ideas at one time. Our crops are like 15 tops.

Here I am! Can you imagine...work expects me to work when I am there.:confused3 :scared1:

Oh my goodness, Joyah, is there any way you can check where that "fat girls camp" was in Brewter?! This was my first year doing a scrapping getaway weekend. We were in Brewster, one of my customers generously donated her house for the weekend. She has a beautiful view of the bay. It accomodated seven of us well, it would be tight for any more than that. However, right down the road from where she is, is a gorgeous HUGE house, that she said at one time was a girls fat camp. I wonder if they rent out the house now. I could easily get more people who are interested in going, but I would need to find bigger spot. If anyone has any suggestions, I am all ears.

Three of my customers are going to Quail Hollow B & B, Chester, VT this weekend for a crop. The owners hold crops there for groups up to 12. Maybe you can check into there.

My monthly crop I have usually between 10-15 people. It is fun to see each others work and get ideas from them. I wish you were closer too, it would be great for you to join us.

Buffy, great layouts! I love the photo of your kids from behind - one of my favorite angles. And all of the disney ones are great, too!

I've been to lots of crops, both weekend and day and finally have a system that works for me. I do stamp a little and bring a few sets, especially alphabets, with me to weekend crops. If I want to stamp on something at a day crop, I either borrow someone's or save it until I get home.

Recently, a lot of the scrapbook supplies that I've bought have been kits, which makes it really easy to pack. I just grab the kits with paper, cardstock and embellishments. Add my photos and I'm all set. I create my own kits, too with paper cardstock and embellishments and keep everything together in the big ziploc bags.

Thanks! I love pics of the kids from behind. DD wasn't walking when we went to WDW in March but when we go back I want to take a pic of them holding hands walking down Main Street. I am big on candid shots and when the kids aren't looking at me, sneaky mommy shots.

Buffy, I love your pages!! I have to ask. . .where did Lumpy on the Heffalump Movie page come from?? I LOVE Lumpy!!

This thread has made me ready to go to a crop! I just have to find one around here!! :)

It was just clipart, so are the other characters. I cut them out with scissors and an exacto knife. I think I googled Lumpy clip art, or heffalump clipart, something. I know there is Lumpy clip art with the pooh stuff.

We took the kids to the movies but didn't tell them were we were going. DH and I had them going the whole ride. When we got to the theatre we told them the big surprise was grocer shopping, there's a Big Y next door. They totally believed us and even walked past the movies to head to the store. They were so surprised! It was hilarious!!

Mom thinks it is now called the Crosby Manision, it is on Crosby Street/lane. The state of MA bought it years ago from my Great Uncle. As far as mom knows it is now rented out and the state uses it for functions she's checking her files for more info. I will keep you posted on what she finds. One of my managers is from Chester and his inlaws have a inn of course he's in Disney right now so I can't ask him if it's the same one, I do know that is is on Main street. I will check in with him to see when he gets back.

I know that ours are held at the American legion and they charge 55 per person for the 8-12 midnight, they feed us 3 meals. I wonder if there are places like that around there. I have another friend from the area I can check in with too. We have someone who brings her stamps and then someone who brings all the papers and stickers for purchase.
Thank you all Buffy you just amaze me I'm so not that goos:worship: :worship:

awe shucks, you're going to give me a complex! LOL

Honestly most of my pages are from sketches I have found on line and in magazines. I can't take all the credit. We have very talented people here. Check out our virtual scrapbook too for inspiration.

I am attending my first, real, "away from home" crop in about two week and I am in a bit of a panic about getting ready for it. I've been scrapping for over 12 years, but other than two or three CM parties, I've never scrapped away from home! (Well... I scrap on our family vacation every summer, but then I bring TONS of stuff!) I've been trying to make myself a few "kits", but I haven't had enough time! Plus, I am always changing my mind about what to put on a page! Until something is glued down, there is always the chance of it changing! Guess I will have to make some hard and fast decisions before I go!

Thanks for all of the hints on this thread! And BAMB.... love the pages, especially the blue heron page and the Japan pages! Thanks for taking the time to share!................P

Buffy
but you find the time to research is and remember it to put together. I'm still in the old mindset of using all the pictures. I seem to average 4-5 pictures on a page with the stamping around it. I will definately check out that thread. And I'm so technically challenged that I couldn't begin to upload a page for any one to see what I mean. I'm obviously still asleep from looking at my spelling of good!!!:rolleyes1

Hi
south central NH I'm just out side of White River/lebanon area. I just drag it all. Although as I sort, organize I think I'm paring down some. I've down to the 2 medium rolling cases, 1 "pattern" box that holds pictures, and once I finish I think I'll have 1 messenger bag, unless I bring the laptop to enter the journaling and save it.
Hope you have fun I enjoy looking at all the others work and the make and takes.

I still use all my pics. DH took 5000 pics at WDW when we went for xmas. I feel the need, obsession, what ever you call it, to print and scrap all my pics, even the bad ones. The Spectro Magic page, ugh if you ever saw the pics close up, they are horrible, but it was our first trip to WDW. And I didn't know if or when we would go back, turned out to be 4 times the next year, but still. I had to use them!!
As for multiple pics on a page check out these, all 4x6 some cropped and all Becky Higgins sketches:

15 pics on these 2 pages.

17 pics

So as you can see I cram pics in too. I can't leave anything out. Also look at www.twopeasinabucket.com
look in the member gallery for layouts. there is gorgeous work over there!

And take baby steps, I have 4 kids so I don't have a lot of free time. So I'll take 5-10 minutes while Dinner is cooking or while I'm waiting for the kids to be released from school and sort my pics. I use the Creative Memories Power sort box for my pics, it holds 2400 pics. I'll go through my sketches that match up the number of pics I have and go from there.
Some other time I'll find paper, which I have tons of (I like to shop) and then embellishments. My Disney album took 2 1/2 years to finish, so I'm not all put together by any means.
StitchIsOurHero cranks out the pages! And does amazing work.

In November we will start a new monthly challenge, why don't you join. Some months I get 1 page others I get 30 but it's nice to set a goal. And who ever gets the most done for the month gets a prize from the hostess and then hosts the next months challenge.

Those are wonderful and so what I needed to see. Almost all of the books I've seen at the crops are basically 1-2 pictures. It is so nice to see how they look with more. I feel that same need.
I'm so far behind that I'm going to set a goal of 4 pages a night starting the 16th of nov, 2 quilt classes and a 4h registration to get through 1st.
I have been sorting pictures while the boys finish dinner and that has 1 night to go but some little bird tells me trick or treat will get in the way tonight:lmao:
I've just gotten the youngest ones book done through year 1, this is going to be a VERY LOOOOOOOOONG project. I made the decision to get 2007 into a book for each of them by the end of the year.
Thank you so much for all your help and willingness to share.
