So after dragging a TON:confused3 to my 2nd crop........................ I've come up with a few questions for all of you to help me out with. some background info. this is an ALL day from 8 am to midnight. I'm usually there 12 hours so I lose 1-2hours for meals

1) how do you decide what to take? which leads to how many bags do you bring?

2) do you go with specifics in mind, ie sorted through all the pictures and bring only that to work on?

3) what is the average amount of 12x12 pages that you get done?

4) do any of you use rubber stamps on your pages?

thank you for all your help and advice. :flower3:

i am a strong believer in sorting before you sit down to "do a page"

i read in a book (don't remember which one) when i was figuring all of this stuff out, that you should sort your mem. with your pictures and paper you know you want to use along with any stickers, journaling ideas etc into page protectors.

so i have all my pictures sorted into page protectors and one i have sticker for have those trown in too. it makes it a lot easier to scrap, when the photos are already sorted and ready to go.

if i was going to a crop (which i would never do) i would just pick a protector, find some paper, and scrap away.

so far we have 10 pages done (5 2-page LO) my wife has helped, which suprises me because she wanted nothing to do with it. but it's great to do it together and relive some of the moments on our trip.

it takes about an hour to do a 2 page LO, and i havent' used any rubber stamps yet. i have some though, just haven't used them.

and i don't have any bags, all my stuff fits in to Iris cases and a small sterilit show off for my tools, and my paper cutter.

Thanks Rob

I sort of transitioned from regular albums to the scrapbooking so I haven't really sorted through all the pictures, everything is in cronological order in plastic totes. I went with the idea that I would finish my youngest sons 1st year (he's almost 7 :sad2: :sad2: :scared: ) Which I did do, 34 pages are done just have to finish the journaling.
Crops are great to get ideas and learn from others. My friends dragged me kicking and screaming to the 1st one in Sept. Now I'm hoping that another friend (she is really thinking about it) will start holding them at her house for the winter because our next one isn't until Feb 08.

I used to drag a bunch of stuff with me, too. Then I decided it was crazy and I spent more time packing and unpacking then I should.

Now, I do one of two things (depending on how organized I am).

First, I take out the pics I want to make pages for. I decide on a theme and pull paper and embellishments that make sense. Put it all in a clear organizer and just bring along my essential tools like scissors, tape, etc. I jot my ideas on a sticky so I don;t forget my ideas.

Or, I simply bring themed paper I like with general embellishments and make the page without pics. This is especially good for any packages you may have. For example, I bought a road trip package that had paper, framed, die cuts, etc all together. Then I simply made the pages and added more embellishments to make it more customized. I left space for pics and will add them later.

I love the all day crops and wish I could get to more of them. I love seeing other peoples work. I also like the feeling in the room of all the busy energy!

Have fun!!

I don't do crops often because I never know what I'm going to need. I'm not a pre-planner (except my pictures, I print photos to go on my page, not do a page for my photos) so I always end up needing so much when I go to a crop

I just can't pre plan enough I've got the picture group but the paper, and all the rest untill I sit down with the individual pictures I don't know the direction of the page.

When I repacked at the end of the night I realized that there was one bag I never touched and so that will bring me down to 1 little box of pictues, 2 messenger bags and 2 rolling bags. Know I realize that there were some woman there that literally made 6 trips to the car I did it in one. I've decided that the journaling is much easier down at home unless it a stamping thing that goes around the layout.

Cissy I didn't even know these exsisted but ours are held in white river jct vt and I know there is another group 45 mins north of us that did one last weekend. Husband only lets me out every so often:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I kit all of my stuff for crops. I don't cut any of the paper but I will gather my pics find paper and embellishments and stack everything into 2 gallon ziploc bags.

I pack my tools in one bag, my kits in a second bag, and I carry a canvas bag that has my tower for brads, buttons, eyelets etc. I toss my purse and snacks in the canvas bag too.

I just resorted all my pics. They were by person but now they are by year. I haven't gotten much done lately so I needed a change.
My Disney albums, I do separately.
I also just finished an album for my dog, so I kitted all of those pics with paper and embellies. It was a pretty big album so I just worked on this one til it was done.

For a 12 hour crop without classes I would probably get 20-30 pages done if I really concentrate. If I'm at my CM crop which is 7 hours I get 10-15 pages done, depending on if I'm helping my CMC with other scrappers.

I stamp a little but I don't know a lot about stamping and coloring them and all so I use them infrequently.

I've only been to one crop in my entire life. Before we went I had picked out some photos I wanted do a page for, picked out the paper and cardstock to go with it and embellishments. I also had the basics like trimmer, scissors, tape, glue, etc. I really tried to minimize the amount of stuff my sister and I were taking. We saw people who I swear brought everything and the kitchen sink. We only had my one tote and then the paper holders. Easy to carry and not a lot to set up or clean up.

Thanks I strive to be that organized I use the 2 gallon ziplocs for my quilting squares, never thought about doing it for a crop. I am never sure about the paper till I've pulled the picture group, but definately and idea!!!!

My friend is the stamp queen and so I find myself leaning that way otherwise I'm very plain The eyelets and all of that just throw me. I tend to use stickers and stamps and lots of cut down pictures on the pages. The next crop in Feb I'm just hoping to cut down on the amount that I'm dragging in, course there were some woman that couldn't see over their piles on the 8' table to see the people around them:rotfl: :rotfl: i almost died looking at that.

We're in a small area so there aren't a lot of the long day ones and since I have 2 boys at home that like to "HELP" it's hard to have friends over to do anything.:confused3

But just think, you get to talk to adults.;) You are the best for helping!

When I do my monthly CM crop, I rarely get to scrap at all. If I do, it is a quick kit album with pictures of weekend event or birthday party.

For my Cape Cod Getaway Crop, along with cooking and helping the ladies, I scrapped 15 pages Saturday, did some knitting, and demonstrated how to do an altered paint can.

If you ever saw my house, which Lisa can attest too, I am the most unorganized person you will ever meet. So, I tend to go over board with my scrap stuff or I would never get anything done. LOL

I have 4 helpers so I feel your pain. I take my ziploc bags to the town library on occasion when the boys go to the Pokemon tournament there.

I very rarely get pages done at home. Sometime when the boys are at school and DD is napping, and the dishes are done, and the laundry is in mid cycle, you get the picture. :rotfl2:

I love helping!!! I'm sorry I missed the Cape Crop, :sad1: But I did finish the dogs album this week!!

I wish you were closer. I'm half way up into VT just outside of White River Jct.
I work full time and DH has his business out of the house so my time at home with the boys is slim and so until they hit bed I spend the time with them. then I'm quilting for a class, only 2 more weeks then I can alternate finishing the quilt and spend some time scrapping

Cape Cod is this a yearly thing? Could I have some more information on it is it open to anyone our just your groups?

In August a bunch of us are going to WDW to a crop. I know it sounds like a long distance to travel but it's so much fun! We have a thread here:

I think the Cape Crop is a yearly thing. It's a weekend long getaway. I'm sure Lisa will post again, normally early morning. If not I'll drop her an e-mail and send her a reminder.

Buffy
Thank you. I would love to do disney but I don't fly!!!!:lmao: when we do go we take the camper and do a 2 week trip I'd hoped to go next summer but I think it will be 09 at this rate.

Now Cape Cod being 3 hours and the bulk of my parents family just south of Quincy and some on the south shore............. it might be a possibility.

I've been sorting pictures like mad spent 2 hours last night and 2 more this am so if I can just them totally in order I might be able to start with some bag kits.

sorting is the hardest. My dad has all his pics on slides so mom and I are starting sort those to be printed. What a challenge!

Once you get them sorted you'll start to see a pattern. I had all my pics groups by person but there was no flow for me to scrap, so last week I resorted by year. I could see the pages start coming together just by regrouping. I was really happy with my progress.
It's been a challenge since I normally scrap by theme like the dog, and disney, but I need a challenge!

ETA my Aunt has a house on the Cape too! Not sure where though, Brewster? Is that a town on the Cape?

Buffy
Brewster is indeed on the Cape my great uncle used to have "fat girls camp" at least that's what dad called it i don't even know what type of camp it really was.
hopefully Lisa will chime in with the info. I think it would be a wonderful time to see so many peoples ideas at one time. Our crops are like 15 tops.
