When you get flamed

There is a reason I have never EVER EVER once stepped foot into one.

The fact that I don't have health insurance was a hot topic once. I just stopped reading.

I remember that one...quite entertaining. I usually just lurk as someone else has pretty much said what I would have. I try to reply only if I think I have something of interest, which is why I'm just a lurker.
I haven't been flamed as I never can think of an entertaining thread to start.

I think you're good as long as you are participating in the recession and you live in a cold climate. If it is warm and sunny, don't tell.

I'm trying to avoid the recession (and not succeeding very well ) and live in a warm area. I guess that I'm flameworthy.

It's a public forum so I figue everyone's entitled to add their .02 worth. You never know, I might actually change my mind, but it isn't very likely.

The only thread I've ever started that got me flamed was about a dog I...er...rescued. Some folks seened to think I stole the dog that was running near a high traffic area and was so emaciated that her entire ribcage showed. I finally just replied "I'm keeping the dog." and walked away. The flamers had a field day for another couple of pages or so.

Still have the dog, by the way.

Isn't that so strange? I posted a very similar thread on Thanksgiving and only one person disagreed with my actions. I didn't keep the dog, but the poster thought I was wrong in taking the dog home. I'm not saying it was a flame, though. I just can't believe you got blasted for doing the same thing I was getting praised for!

I consider for a moment if I'm the one who is wrong. Then I remember that of course I can't be wrong so I laugh at the foolish people who disagree with me. Sometimes I beg the flamer to put me on ignore so they never have to flame me again.

Sometimes I do that and sometimes I just shake my head and wonder where their head was. They post suck crazy stuff you know the flames are coming. The infamous microwave cake thread comes to mind.

Then there are the "dead horse" threads. The ones that people start making side wagers for the over/under on lockage.

When I get flamed enough in a thread, I make a quick sarcastic statement, take my ball and go home-never to return to the thread again. Then in my mind, I got the last word., therefore I won.

I have also turned off my PM's after a few flames. Didn't want to be harrassed!

You have to remove ALL PM's, you can't just select individuals..I don't think..maybe if you have someone on your ignore list, they also can't PM you? I'm not sure...I went into my UserCP-Edit Options, and Disabled my PMs. That way you can't PM anyone, No one can PM you. Kind of a coward's way out for me, but I was in a mood that day.

Does anyone know if you are "Ignoring" someone, can they PM you?
